Had several in there about 3 or 4 years ago on a cold winters night but was pretty full and the roaring fires were going. They had it chilled just beautifully, although by the end of the evening i was only capable of saying 'flibble' so i may have imagined it!

Ah,... you were meaning the condition of the beer?! I thought you were meaning they did some kind of 'special' delivery service for you when they served you?

Yes, out of lockdown, I've often been in there for a couple on a monday evening after an improv class I've been doing, and I would agree, the Ghost Ship has been very well served and enjoyed.

Uh oh......you better take the marrow soup off the evening menu.

And I’ll need a bottle a vodka, and a spatula.

"improv class"?

Is the one of the unqualifiedyes ones?

I saw those, thought I might have a go, but as I was about to sign up, a herd of wildebeeste stormed the front door, and helicopters appeared overhead, dropping scores of SWAT operatives who thought I was an international jewel thief, so I had to deal with all that.....

A lucky escape for you.....

Yep. It was with the unqualified yes - I started a beginners class back in Sept 2019, and we were doing a monthly performance improv night at The Bull for a few months before Lockdown 1.0 happened and we had to take it online.

Blimey - I can only imagine how that must've caused you untold amounts of stress and worry with all that going on. Just as well you didn't make it inside with all that outside, as inside we were probably dealing with a trombone-playing hippo trying to serve us cocktails whilst rollerskating across a beach... so you'd have gone from the frying pan into the fire...

If you are seriously interested in doing some when it all gets going again, then go for it. I jumped into it without ever having done something like it before, and completely out of my comfort zone, and I've loved doing it. Great fun.

If you're carrying a sub-machine gun, you really shouldn't be fist bumping policemen, in case you're not completely in control and accidentally shoot them.

Now I have got a bit of wi-fi I can, perhaps, explain myself a bit better. It was the policeman carrying the sub-machine gun (I left my 'How to survive in a war zone' book behind in Scotland as I didn't expect to encounter sub-machine guns close up but I am fairly sure that it was neither an AK-47 or an Uzi. It looked more ancient, was there ever an AK-23.5?

Anyway, my landlady was insisting that we kept the New Year's Day bonfire going but the police were unhappy because there were refuelling a boat on the next jetty. This seemed to involve emptying red diesel from a fifty gallon blue plastic drum into an open funnel...

A compromise was reached by my agreeing to move the bonfire in a cardboard box, piece by piece - not all at once. Hence the fist bump.

so basically, in order to prevent being arrested for arson you were fisted by a policemen at gunpoint?

I may have misread that

Well thank you for the slurs upon my character that your assumptions have provided...I would just like to point out that is was a friendly fist bump in acknowledgement of the sterling duty that a bit of good old fashioned British intervention could provide to resolve a tricky situation. You see, Brexit is working already...

I would also like to point out that I was not actually carrying burning wood in a cardboard box but had folded up the cardboard box to hold the wood (as in timber wood, not 'Got Wood', and only a few bits of the wood were in flame, most were only smouldering.

As an aside on the AK23.5, did it have a magnificent leather strap with the coat of arms of the Panamanian naval police proudly embossed upon it? No...bungee cord...
