Cricket on 08:43 - Feb 14 by Romeo4 | Its game over. Rohit’s knock was excellent and, coupled with the toss win, has effectively won this match for India but this is not a test match standard pitch. |
Completely agree. | |

I recall Surrey being bowled out by Essex for 14, I think John Lever and Norbert Phillip took all the wickets, then Surrey followed on, scored 300 plus and saved the game.

Yep. It was Foster and Phillip though.

Cricket on 09:20 - Feb 14 with 1089 views | Sharkey | Serious modern cricket jargon question. The commentators keep saying things like he needs to bowl it "quicker through the air". What does does this mean? What other kind of 'quicker' is there? I mean can a bowler make it come "quicker off the pitch", for example? If so, how? by giving it more air/less air? (I do understand the basics of spin bowling, but I just don't understand what this term means. I guess it only applies to slow bowlers, - or does it apply to medium-pacers too?)

Those two catches off Pope and now Leach were very impressive. He looks like the next Indian cricketing superstar.

Broad isn't really a defensive batsman, tho. That attempted shot was utterly unsurprising.

Was thinking the same. With Foakes up the other end the tail should’ve just been trying to keep it out. Poor from an experienced player that.

The Leach one was routine and he made it look very dramatic.
Cricket on 09:45 - Feb 14 with 1047 views | Romeo4 | What’s everyone’s favoured viewing/audio method this series? I’ve given up on the C4 commentary. Now listening to the BBC Cricket Social whilst watching the C4 coverage on mute. I miss the ball-by-ball commentary from TMS but I do like the banter between Aggers, Mann, Tuffers, Zaltsman, etc

A batsman with a test match century failing to lay bat on an Ashwin stock ball. There is ‘playing with freedom’ and then there is ‘playing without any application at all’.....

Move Pope up to open with one of Burns and Sibley.

There is ball by ball on Talksport.....I tried it in the first test, but it was like listening to Northern FM. Hoggard, Gough and Harminson.

Credit to Kohli. Leach was pretty comfortable facing spin. Was a good call to go to seam at him. That said I think I could captain India to victory on this strip!

Crawley to open rather than Pope. They are reluctant to bat Pope higher than 6 at the moment. Buttler is a counter attacking player and not sure really if you could justify his inclusion if he isn't going to keep. There are growing calls for Vince to be given another go.

He was slow to react and it was to his weaker side. If he played in a country where it seamed around he would look like a complete clown with the gloves.

That century was a long time ago - and before he took the blow to the head which destroyed his batting confidence. He's only got past 20 nine times in the last five years.
