Best debut albums...? on 21:42 - Feb 18 by Swansea_Blue
As a bit of a metal nut in my youth, it would probably have to be Appetite for Destruction. All considered dull mainstream now, but it hit like a train when it landed.
But then Metallica's and Iron Maiden's firsts were great too. And then later Faith No More's We Care A Lot.
I use to love a bit of Marillion too, so Script for a Jester's Tear is a worthy mention.
Hard to pick as there have been so many good first albums across all genres. There's a good argument for a lot of bands' first albums being their best.
"Script" was my first thought
"I'm losing on the swings, I'm losing on the roundabouts"
Discovered that album after the second album. The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion a few tracks of that second album were played on radio one day time, in the early 90's (rock music on radio one day time in the early 90's was as rare as unicorn sh!t).
Liked the second album so much I discovered the first.
