New stadium 00:02 - Mar 4 with 7094 views | textbackup | If we are to be taken over, seen a few posts suggesting we might end up leaving Portman road, which I personally don't see happening, but whatever. anyway got me looking at possible locations that wouldn't completely uproot us, and the best location I see is alderman park, right by the ground. loads of open space on the outskirts of Ipswich, with direct links to the a12/14, but Alderman park wouldn't require much upheaval

Just to remind everyone, the building of the pioneer stand led to a huge decline in the club's finances and performance... as did the building of two new stands in c.2000. Learn from experience. I was only saying that from the point of view of the new owners wanting to pump millions in and redevelop/relocate. Obviously we wouldn't just do it and shoout ourselves in the foot.. again!

None of their knuckle dragging fan base in the ground. Better without them.

I could see them partnering with the council to develop the wider area, and refurbish the stadium rather than anything else. The 1990's model of moving out of town would generate significant return these days. Even the big clubs with money don't do it.

New stadium on 09:42 - Mar 4 by ElderGrizzly | We don't, I was just guessing as they are buying a football club, have bought into other clubs they have more experience than you. If not, I apologise. And absolutely, the new ownership is a huge risk. They are in it for money, not for Ipswich. |
...and its likely that they will agree with me. The way to make money from a football club is not to relocate, its is to; Invest in good staff. Invest in good recruitment. Sell at the right price and time. Invest in the academy. Invest in branding. Moving stadiums is a very outdated model that doesnt make money.

New stadium on 09:59 - Mar 4 with 638 views | Bluespeed225 | I’d rather be in a crumbling Portman Rd, than pushed to the outskirts. It’s the longest thread in my life. You go to a school for however many years, jobs change, you move house( though my folks have been on Chantry since 56’!) so apart from that house, PR since 1972 has been in my life. However, a new stadium on the speedway site would be a fun proposal, just to see the meltdown in Rushmere, who do not regard themselves as to having any link with Ipswich. Sure, they don’t mind the training ground, but The Bell full of Leeds fans would be interesting. We would have The Golf, which is also technically not in Ipswich.

New stadium on 07:30 - Mar 4 by m14_blue | Ask any West Ham fan how they feel about the ground move. |
A couple of my mates and old football mates are West Ham season ticket holders as where I used to live is mostly West Ham. Anyway you ask them they would move back to Upton Park tomorrow, I have been a few times to Upton Park proper ground. First time was when we got promoted in 92, think it was Ray Stewart testimonial my old man took me

The difference with West Ham is that Upton Park was 36-38k or so, minimal room for corporate entertainment and there was a 60k seater built on their doorstep, with perfect facilities and the ability to coin it in in London from the corporate pound We haven;t out grown our stadium, we aren't a massive corporate draw, and we aren't in London The situations are incomparable, even the most ardent West Ham fan whilst hating the move could see why it was happening even if they didn't want it to

New stadium on 12:56 - Mar 4 with 520 views | Hipsterectomy | I can't imagine the town centre coping with over 30,000 fans a game. Sometimes it barely copes with 15,000-20,000
