He does. The only issue I have with saying things like that is that most if not all managers tend to make the right noises when they first come to a club.

Lambert - wanted to change the culture, putting pressure on Evans to improve club, atmosphere, beers etc.
I don't remember too many people disagreeing with what those managers said in their early days, even if they didn't necessarily think they had been a good appointment.

His warmth and, I presume, authoritative yet friendly connection with the players are so important too. Particularly with our squad I suspect, who must be to some extent traumatised by the long-term decline here. It's going to take some time (probably, unless it really clicks), but he's just the right sort of bloke to to do a proper repair job on ITFC. |  |

Agree with this. I love what Cook has had to say so far, but I loved what Lambert had to say too so.......
Results on the pitch are what matter ultimately, but it is genuinely reassuring that Cook has already identified some problems. |  |

Absolutely, and the other guaranteed thing whenever a new manger is appointed is that fans will highlight the differences from the end of the previous manager's reign.
Cook's positivity should be a welcome change to the squad, up to them to produce results now though. |  |

I do feel a lot sense of honesty from Cook than the others. Apart from Mick. I hear alot of similarities between Mick and Cook which can only be a good thing like they both had their own identity and knew what it took to win.
With Lambert it was almost like he knew he weren't good enough so got straight into the fans from the off.
What I have liked about PC is that hes not afraid to tell fans and media to be realistic and how to be realistic. Almost to the point that he knows what is expected of him so hes telling us what he expects from us. But put across in a respectful way
Of course end of day results will dictate what happens here.. but since Burley this is the most comfortable management hiring I feel town have had and that's including mick

You are right, but somehow it feels different with Cook. Maybe that’s just desperate optimism. Hope not.
The thing is that with the boiler man and Jewell it was a bit shut your eyes and hope for the best. MM, I thought it’d be ugly and I disliked his arrogance but thought with a bit of support he’d get us to the PL. Hurst - optimism based on nothing, Lambert - relief it wasn’t Hurst but you are right, he made the right noises and had done it with the other mob, albeit 10 years earlier with failure in between.
Cook: good lower league track record and virtually no negativity about him from clubs he’s managed. I guess that’s where my optimism springs from. |  | | |
