Not got a good feeling about today. Fearing #itfc meltdown if we lose 12:11 - Mar 20 with 652 viewsMaySixth

. I'm still saying it's all about next season.

Only the usual flouncy melts will cry if we lose.

It's a huge job Cook has ahead of him and that will take time. The bloke's not even had a full week's training with the team yet and some are already expecting miracles.

Well, he’s up against a manager today who has had even less time so it’ll be interesting to see what happens.

I actually have a feeling we might get a win today. Need a decent performance after Fleetwood.

I wrote this season off months ago. If we managed playoffs I'd be happy of course. But I'm just looking at the summer and what PC is able to do in the window

Cook has a free pass for this season. He’s inherited a bloated and unbalanced squad devoid of confidence.

Anything positive that happens between now and end of this season is a bonus. It’s all about next season for me. I will be expecting big things.

Oh God, no more 'free hits'.

Free hits are the reason we ended up in the mess we're in now.
Playoffs, bare minimum. Anything else is still failure.
As a club, we've been tolerating and excusing mediciocrity for too long. Both in club from owner downwards and from press and fans.

Surely they can’t lose 5 in a row, so on that basis we lose.

Need a good performance though, can forgive a good performance with a little bit of luck going against us, but if we don’t turn up I’ll be more than annoyed

So are you saying if we dont finish in playoffs we should sack PC after 2 months of football.

From a personal point of view, no, but we shouldn’t be writing this season off either. If we fail to make the play offs, considering where we were when he came in and our run in, is little more than a failure. It does mean, rightly in more view, there will be more pressure from the fan base over the summer.

No, but we shouldn't gloss over it, excuse it or carry as we were before.

Don’t get me wrong, not getting promotion this season would be an abject failure by the club. The point I was trying to make is that I would apportion very little (if any) of the blame to Paul Cook.

Indeed.

The original catalyst for sorting out the squad for me was relegation. It didn't happen then and hasn't happened since. Did the fan's acceptance of that relegation contribute to the failure to thoroughly re-assess the squad? No idea but it is easy to see why people would think so.

Playoffs/no playoffs, promotion/no promotion, we need to rebuild a team and not by adding the "missing pieces" but by wholesale change.

When Cook took over we were a point off the play offs with a game in hand on Portsmouth, two points ahead of us in fifth. It wasn’t as though we were or are completely out of it. If we fail to make the top six then some of the blame should be apportioned to Cook.

I certainly think that all the 'Lambo' banners and recitals of 'Two Litte Birds' certainly contributed to Evans giving Lambert that ludicrous contract. He should have been told 'you want this deal, you get us promoted' before any pen was put to paper at very least.

Draw would probably see both managers proclaim that they're happy, "stopping the rot" and all that and in isolation would be a decent result for both teams, but in reality wouldn't really do either side a great deal of good.
