Isn't Spring brilliant? 10:19 - Mar 22 with 3141 views | Dubtractor | With a nod to Big Phil's plea for positivity, how about a thread on how great Spring is? Absolute champion of the seasons for me. Just watching nature slowly come back to life each day is a treat. Anyone got any exciting nature happening in their garden? We've got the first batches of frog and toad spawn in the ponds, and an army of newts are mobilising.

Isn't Spring brilliant? on 12:27 - Mar 22 with 882 views | NthQldITFC | I'm jealous that you have spawn. I think I have a lone (not loan) frog in my pond, croaking lonesomely every night. I think he lives in the garden, but the trouble is the stupid neighbours insist on concrete gravel boards, and hermetically sealed gardens of monoculture lawn, yuck. If you are thinking of putting some fencing in, please don't use gravel boards, leave a gap underneath so that frogs, toads, newts, hedgehogs, taipans etc. can get around, or better still, grow a hedge.

It was the reason I just opened the thread, but then saw I'd been beaten to it!! (I hadn't seen it earlier, as I've actually been busy - which is nice).

I've had that in mind quite a bit this last week as it happens. We've been having a new bathroom put in, and as it's the only one in the house, we've had to get the camping loo out in the shed, so when I've been emerging out of it, have felt rather Jesse-esque!

Isn't Spring brilliant? on 21:22 - Mar 22 with 732 views | Melford | Every day is getting longer and brighter and (mostly) warmer. George Harrison wrote a really good song about it. There's a bit of land at the back of work that is fenced off and kept wild, I put a bird box up there a week ago and already there's Blue Tits coming in and out of it. First saw them using on Saturday and it made my day. Thinking about getting a camera and filming it, especially when the chicks become fledglings.

If you could run to a movement-triggered remote camera, you might be surprised at what turns up - my neighbours put one in another neighbour's bit of wild wood that has a stream running through it, & got footage of badgers! plus hedgehogs & a fox.
