Derby could still be relegated 11:29 - May 10 with 3024 viewsJackSted

Turns out the EFL just won an appeal to find the club in breach of FFP

Sanction still yet to be determined but they could end up with a point deduction either this season or next lmao

Yes - but that was administration related. Sheff Wed who got a FFP related sanction, got placed into next season so you would assume same happens here.

I believe Sheff Wed was placed into the following season because it wasn’t a ‘punishment’ if done last.

For Derby it is very different as it would be a penalty that has an impact this season. Their ‘cheating’ has given them an advantage.

So when Marcus Evans arrived on the scene - with what was seen as a lot of money at his disposal- you didn’t think that promotion would follow shortly?

I’ve known a couple Derby fans and they never came across as feeling entitled to promotion.

They're paying Rooney something like 80k a week
The comparison with Evans isn't at the same level

Hold up a second.. there’s a huge difference between spending 20m a year on players with the sole intention of buying the league and wanting an owner to not sell the top scorer in the league and be replaced with Leon Best on a free.

Although it's worth noting the effect of either approach has proved to be effectively the same - failure.

Derby would have been in absolutely huge financial trouble if they'd got relegated yesterday. Mel Morris is a decent guy, put so much money in but has had no success - another one that should have gone for Warnock or Mick to get them up at some point but they were too obsessive about style over substance.

Sounds like another Sheffield United/West Ham situation. Wycombe will have every right to be annoyed at this.

Why is it that people enjoy Derby’s demise? Never understood it.

It all started because some of the ITFC fanbase were holding up Derby County as the model of a well-run club, with the owner splurging large sums on transfers and wages. It wasn't a universally popular opinion and the club's travails are seen as the perfect refutation of it.

Given added spice by Derby having enticed away one of our potential managerial options (Lampard) and a key player (Waghorn), perhaps contributing to our own fall.

Have they enticed Lampard away from us? Both him and Evans failed to make an agreement re transfer budget.

I believe it was Harry Redknapp who told him to not go with us lol

It was simply that money expectations were miles apart.

While that is true, big-spending Derby provided a far more enticing alternative. If it hadn't been, who knows?

Besides which, this is more about perceptions than strict reality.
