yeah but the way the draw works is say England do finish 2nd, ok they miss the group F teams in that first knock out game, but have to then hope the 3rd place team who play group F winners of Portugal or France lets face it Germany arent winning the group, beat them, because otherwise theyll just meet a Portugal or France in the next round anyway.
even if you top the group and play the 2nd place in group F, get through that, chances are youll be playing Spain next.
its why Ive always thought England arent favourites for this tournament, because which ever route you took, to actually get to the final youd have had to play most of the other favourites first. | | | |

Jeez the narrative on TV is astounding, Scotland were amazing apparently, poor finishing and lots of niggly fouls is what I saw.

Yep. Souness in particular was over-selling Scotland's performance. They did pretty well and had a couple of decent chances. But fantastic and amazing they were not. |  |
