With two clean sheets. Meanwhile Scotland are bottom of the group with one point and no goals and have to beat a World Cup finalist to go thru but somehow, they’re the winners and we’re the losers….?

The ‘defending’ statement is a myth, England had one shot on target and Stones’ header off the post, that was it. They weren’t defending for their lives last night, had 40% possession and created more efforts on and off target than we did.

Most of the Scotland attacks were on the break. Which is a perfectly respectable way of playing and they weren't without a threat. But their setup, high line and doggedness denied England any real chance going forwards (hence the few shots). A calculated defence, not a desperate one.

England then ran out of ideas in how to break through that.

And that’s a big concern - we seem to have absolutely no idea how to play against a team which shut off the counter and tell us to play through them. We need an early break to open a game up in that scenario, otherwise we just become more and more clueless.

Remember that in Euro 96, England started with a lack lustre draw with Switzerland & played worse than last night against the Scots until Seaman's penalty save & Gascoigne's goal. The group stage with the stupid 24 team format is only about eliminating 8 teams who shouldn't be there, such as the Scots. The way they celebrated a draw when they needed to win the game says everything. I don't think England are potential winners, but the position is nowhere near as gloomy as some would have it,

Personally I was getitng pissed off that no one was passing to Kane in the first half. Then again, in the cold light of suber day, maybe Kane was making space for them to pass? No idea.

Is Rashford an out and out centre forward? At United they generally play him in that wide role to Cavani, who plays centrally. I was surprised they didn't bring on Calvert-Lewin for Kane, surely that would've been more like for like? All opinions though. Both Kane and Sterling were underwhelming last night.

Have literally never heard any England fan refer to them like that. Everyone knows what they are, hard working dogged with decent midfielders and two very good defenders & incapable of scoring goals.

Hardly surprising if some England fans think that though. You had idiots like Rio Ferdinand completely writing Scotland off before the game saying it would be 3-0 or 4-1.
