Doesn’t sound like there’s much of a role for Downes in that - except as an adequate reserve.
I think it says a lot about the changes PCis making that a player we all thought was about our best (Downes) probably wouldn’t be good enough to get into the team being built. |

Nolan may well find himself with a role behind the forward. I see him staying, but not so much in an MC role, but more as an AMC.

We will still need a squad even if it is much smaller than we have had. There will be a few players who will be needed on the bench, to cover for unavailability and provide competition for places. | |
