Harper, Evans, Burns, Dobra, Pigott, Norwood, Bonne, Chaplin, Fraser.

9 players for 6 positions (5 if we play wingbacks).

Which players out of those start? My guess would be Dobra, Norwood and Bonne on the bench but that's a lot of attacking talent we're potentially missing out on.

Maybe Burns can drop to right back sometimes if KVY is injured. Maybe Fraser can fill in for Harper / Evans if either of those are injured.

I think we've got enough attacking players now. I'm really surprised that fans still want another winger on top of that. We'll be doing well to keep all those players happy and motivated as it is IMO.

I would hope we have got in players who accept they have to earn a place in the team. I think Cook has already shown he won't bow to player power and will ship out players if he has to.

Goals are going to come from more areas of the pitch than the strikers. Chaplin is supposed to be a good finisher from comments made on signing - his record in the Championship does not appear to bear that up but how many minutes did he play and how many chances was he given during those minutes? I think we will be alright for goals.

I would hope so too and I think Cook is strong enough to deal with that. Chaplin's comments in his interview about 'not wanting to stay in this division any longer than I have to' made me think that he already thinks he's far too good to be in this division so on that basis he would also think he's far too good to not automatically be in the first team every week. Confidence is good but detect a touch of arrogance there too. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Regarding the goals coming from other areas of course you are right. It's just that having been completely reliant on Norwood to score on the past, it makes all the changes happening a little bit scary because the other players are more unknown. Having said that I'm convinced that Pigott will score a lot this season, so maybe Norwood isn't needed much if others are chipping in too.

Wouldn’t be surprised if there is a least 2 goals from each area of the park. Edmundson looked dangerous for Derby and Rangers from set pieces last few seasons. We know that KVY loves a goal, and will put himself in the attacking third a lot this season. Evans has proven he can score free kicks. Harper and Nolan battling for the box-to-box position, and everyone can see that JN is very good in front of goal. Burns was a right back with 5 goals, Fraser will score penalties, Dobra’s long range efforts are excellent, Chaplin is a natural finisher. Bonne, Pigott, Nors will all thrive of service. Might be a season where almost every outfield player scores a goal, bar maybe Donacien.

Part of me wants Pigott and Norwood in every week because I think they're the only two more or less guaranteed to be in double figures for goals for the season. Not sure that's really going to be possible though.

Think Cook’s team on Saturday will be telling to how his wants to see up his team for the league games. I’m not against a Burns-Fraser-Chaplin-Pigott quad (no pun intended!) to start each game, and then if we need some goals then you can bring Nors and/or Bonne on for Fraser to play closer to Pigott.

Ideally, we’d be 2/3-0 up in each game, and then you can bring Nors and Bonne on for the final 30 minutes to make defenders hate us even more ! 😂

I like it. I like it a lot . Got to be 30 mins though, not 10 mins.

We absolutely need a winger. Only Dobra, Burns and Chaplin/Fraser (the latter two only if we are happy to play quite narrow) from your list are comfortable out there.

Dobra should really kick on this season but can't hang hat on him yet; Burns is a good signing but not traditionally a goals/assists machine so I suspect we'll find out in time what his best function is. Lose just one or two through injury and we're well short in a season where we can't and won't p*ss around. One more quality option needed for those wide areas.

I think Penny could play left midfield/wing if required and if we have a new left back in place.

Yeah, he's a utility player, he can play anywhere on the left hand side if we've got injuries and do a decent enough job. Don't think he will be a regular starter, otherwise we wouldn't be trying to get Coulson.

I think he could too, but if we lose someone up there for two months then Matt Penney is not going to get the numbers that'll put you in the promotion spots. Need one more who can make a difference up there, a good PL loanee might be enough.

Why does it "amaze" you?

I can't see him getting the nod over Pigott and he won't push one of the three out behind him surely (Burns, Fraser, Chaplin)?

The only way he'd start is if we went 4-4-2.

Jeffers implied the other night that they see Piggott for the 10. No way is Norwood a better player than Bonne at 9, who has come from a good team and has a track record of goals at this level.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

GK: Hladky
RB: Vincent-Young
LB: Penney
CB: Edmundson
CB: Nsiala
CM: Harper
CM: Evans
AMR/FWR: Burns
AMC/FWC: Fraser
AML/FWL: Chaplin
S: Pigott

CB, LB and CM are areas where we probably need more cover.

In terms of attacking play and your last point. Burns, Dobra, Pigott, Norwood, Bonne, Chaplin and Fraser would be considered our attacking players, not Harper and Evans

Interesting take on his comments. I took it as he has joined a team he doesn't expect to stay at this level and he would want the team to get promoted rather than necessarily him to be the key player.
