The 2014/2015 season aside.. 20:41 - Jul 29 with 2728 viewsThe_Romford_Blue

I can’t remember being this excited about things as an Ipswich supporter.

We’ve hit the jackpot with these Gamechanger, Ashton, Cook etc I think.

Roll on 7th August!

Poll: Would you take a draw tonight if offered right now?

But you could also say that in that summer we’d also lost our four top scorers as well as selling the most goals/assists player in the league in Waggy. Optimism by the game on the first day of the season was definitely tainted with some worried faces I think.

I knew we were in trouble from the first game. Completely outplayed and outclassed by a newly promoted Blackburn on the opening day at home and spoke to some Blackburn fans after and they all said they played far better teams last season in league one. That’s when I knew we were in trouble.

We drew with Villa 1-1 with Grealish in their team early doors and looked a decent team. It was looking alright until the derby game when he dropped Bart. Something kicked of after that and they downed tools.

The curious thing about that Villa match is we played more than half of it with 10 men and looked like a good team; too often in Hurst's other matches we looked like we were a player short despite having 11 on the pitch.

"I’m not convinced by Cook still, he made far too hard with of last season and just blaming the players is a little reductionist"

Ah, you're one of those fans that want to know what the plan is when fans turn

The guy literally explains the problems he had, Wolfy even explained recently what problems we had, yet you're still unable to move away from it's PC's fault.

incredible.

Also, Hurst lost 42 goals and brought in league 1 and 2 erm 'players' not many were excited going into the season tbh.

You are so defensive of Cook. He just said he is not yet convinced. Im sure come the Autumn, all things being well, we'll all be delighted with Cook and his team

It’s an interesting conversation this one as it implicitly says that unless we’re winning and playing well, judgement will be reserved. Cook’s record prior to this and the glowing endorsement from the board plus the off-field activity to date should be enough to give him the backing he needs. There does however seem to be a fear to commit until we’re doing well.

I plumped for Cook 2-months before he signed and I’ve seen nothing since to change my mind. Sure, the tail end of last season could have been better but look at the strides we’ve had to make in a short amount of time to change the conversation, perception and complexion of the club. This is measureable as are results and performances. We may have a slow start and we will lose some but I’m very confident, as I was in February that Cook is the right fit.

He's not "one of those fans" he just isn't fully convinced by Cook yet, like many of us, because he managed to perform worse than Lambert last season (yes, there's a load of caveats you can throw into the mix).

As for the Hurst season, yes there was plenty of excitement and many completely overlooked the transfers out.
