EGM Live Blog on 20:01 - Aug 2 by PhilTWTD | Away match ticketing, no notice of ticket allocation for Burton, should we get used to later announcements? MA: I think in general everything's a bit slower this year as we're coming out of the pandemic. Waiting for the EFL on a number of matters. But will make sure message gets round to get things out earlier. Communications department is currently under restructuring. Questioner: No priority system for away tickets. MOL: CEO only just come in, not au fait with all details having been signing a player every couple of days!

Sorry, questioner. I seem to have accidentally amended your post as well, although without changing anything.

It felt quite different to previous meetings in that it had a far more positive but realistic feel from those on the top table as to the immediate and long term future of the club. Seemed a lot friendlier too. Great to hear from Sheepy and nice to see that he still loves the club. All in all, fingers crossed for a very good period in our history to come. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Ashton didn't know that away allocations likely to sell out quickly go through a separate process, based on previous away game purchase during the season. (Appreciate that only really works after a few games have been played).

[EDIT - Video now seemingly not available, maybe it’ll appear again later?] A good, impassioned speech by Sheepy at the end, I hope a lot of fans can take on board what he and Cook say about getting behind the team and supporting them through the whole 90mins, whatever happens!! So no priority for burton tickets? What's the point in gold/ silver memberships then?

EGM Live Blog on 19:49 - Aug 2 by PhilTWTD | Academy lifeblodd of the club, go to cat one better standard for players, do you plan to do that at some point? Similarly, Terry Butcher bleeds Ipswich Town, contract wasn't renewed, what reason? And will Mark Ashton be changing his name to Mark Portman having left Ashton Gate? MA: Cat one, disagree with comment. Record at BCFC, nine first-team debuts last season, £Ms of players sold. About developing players as quickly as possible for the first team. EPPP has its place. Talked to Lee about this, coaching led, will be coaching and recruitment led. Getting players from elsewhere. About making sure players are ready for first-team. Big difference between academy and first team. Terry, simply not a slot for him. Kieron in U23s role and we have criteria for cat two system. Talking to Terry about what he might do on community and commercial side. |
Nothing on the Mark Portman question? Dodging the tough ones I see

A penalty after 10 minutes? You really are expecting a good start to the season!

There is a lot of polished public presentation that has been missing for a long time. I think there is evidence that it goes beyond a public image with getting the set up right off the pitch as well. The last time we had something like this was with Magilton and the launch of the Blues Foundation. Sheepshanks had the same polished public persona too. A return to the best of times under him would be great.

I wasn't at this meeting, but I did watch the other stream. I wouldn't say "polished" as such, as that has resonances of "spin" these days. I'd just say that all three are straightforward and clearly believe in open communication. They know their jobs and are confident in their plans. Obviously the test comes if things go badly, but there is a clear difference in tone between the way Cook speaks to and about supporters and the way our last (reasonably) succesful manager, Mick McCarthy, did. MM was guarded and chippy from the off ("Oh this Super Mick stuff is great, but they'll turn on me, you'll see") whereas Cook is saying "I'm going to work my ass off, I'll make sure the players do the same, and we need you to do your bit, too." It's odd that it's taken investment from an American Pension fund to finally get owners who understand the history and the importance of the club to the town and the town (and county) to the club, but it is at the heart of what Brett Johnson has put in place in the US clubs, too. Oh, and I just wonder whether part of the reason that we are seen as financially viable is the relatively low barrier to entry into the professional women's game/market. We have a history and "brand recognition" as a club across Europe and even world-wide, and I believe that it is significant that under the new regime we are signing the better young ITFC women to professional contracts. It is not odd that it has taken a US owner to spot that opportunity.

He did but I amended that as it didn't work. I did forget Paul Jewell, I have to admit.
