typical knuckle-draggers response to someone pointing out the reality of our situation. You're right that I don't hate that lot, because I don't hate any team or any player. I do rather like football. I actaully have quite a bit of affection for all the East Anglian teams, so clearly I'm Satan. Thanks for your analysis of my few posts (few because of people like you who refuse to grow up and just want to throw around abuse like a particularly thick teenager), although why you should be so obsessed I'm really at a loss to explain (have a word with your psychotherapist). I would analyse your posts in return if I could bother to read them, but from your responses I have surmised I really shouldn't bother, picking ticks off the dog would be far more pleasant.

Agree with those listed above, maybe Brighton and Southampton will get sucked into a battle too? And not convinced Brentford are going to do a Bournemouth either.

I've not read his posting history but yours feels a bit unnecessary. I dont want them to do well but I will acknowledge the fact that they've made some signings way beyond what I thought they were capable of. I believe Covid has played a big part but also having a set in stone playing style and identity. Everyone knows how they play and footballers tend to like that style, as long as you're not losing every week of course. I do disagree though that our current owners can take much from how they operate. They're lucky enough to have owners not looking for any return on investment. We don't have that luxury.

So Nodge on 16:47 - Sep 3 by ArnieM | That’s the problem with PL / Sky money isn’t it. It’s ridiculous really and a club is only as good as the “income” they receive from being Sky’s prostitute , and how long a Club can continue to receive Sky money. Where it’s really wrong is Clubs getting parachute money of nearly £100m (or so it used to be), for effectively failure (relegation)….and is in fact the only thing Ive ever agreed with McCarthy on. I notice even MOTD pundits referred to nodge as a yo-yo club! They’ve never really been prepared to “ go for it” once promoted so in my view fully deserve their relegations. I hope the6 get relegated again. Tin pot club “ existing “ on Sky money . |
More silliness, as usual The parachute payments are not for failure, but part of the deal for getting promoted. Without those payments the PL would a much more closed shop than it is now. Promoted clubs would not be willing to commit to transfer fees that are staged over three seasons or so, as most are, Nor would they commit to 3 year contracts that cannot be met outside of the PL - as we found out. TV income is a big part of most clubs income, and I doubt when we are promoted to the Championship we will refuse the extra £7m or so we get in TV money will be turned down, as it would make us "Sky’s prostitute" - or perhaps that money is derived from some other source. As to them being a yo yo club I expect they are blubbing into the trophies that has got them, the visits to the big grounds and the visits of various world class players. Whereas we are just a 'yo' club at the moment. The list of likely relegation candidates rather explodes the myth about 'giving it a go'. That Reading, Hull, Blackburn, Bolton, Sunderland, Cardiff, Boro, Wigan etc were never accused of not 'giving it a go', would suggest that following that path is not a road to success. Didn't we 'give it a go' and left us fcked for a couple of decades ? Likewise if the parachute payments were such an (unfair) advantage why have the likes of Sunderland, Wigan, Bolton, Huddersfield, Blackpool etc sunk so far. Should they have not simply 'yo'ed' back again ? The reality is that bar around 8 PL clubs, no club can claim they have consolidated ( Swansea), no club can claim that they have spent enough to stay up (Fulham)and the fear is always that when you come down (B'mouth) you are so crippled with debt .you slowly sink. As mentioned above, it might help for some to ask why we borrowed heavily in 2021, had investment 2007 and yet find ourselves in the 3rd tier to their top tier position. And that is not just managerial appointments, as Gunn would rank worse than ever any of Evans appointees. My thought on that is Clegg and Milne were not 'football men' and despite waffle bout CAT 1 and other projects they were never more than caretakers watching over Evans letting the club go down the plughole. Whatever happens with the new lot, they clearly have a sense of direction, have already delivered in a number of areas and look like they might succeed. Albeit not overnight. Long term planning is no bad thing and it is what got Brentford and the scum up, and could be said of Sheff Utd. It is then just a case of howto strike the balance between sht or bust. You need only to look at the Championship and L1 to see those who took a gamble and ended with the latter. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Would love Arsenal to continue the way they've started but I've received my share of miracles already this year I guess. Still, a man can dream.

It would be football bliss. It would unfortunately likely mean in them losing to Norwich next, however.

Please provide your evidence for that rather obviously unfounded claim. Which one of our players would make it onto their substitutes bench or even get into their entire squad? I really don't understand why so many fans allow their patriotism to the club to blind them to the realities right before our eyes, that we need to accept if we are ever to move forward. Things look better now than they have done for some time but let's not get into the ridiculous game of denying we are worlds apart at the moment (see the transfermarkt squad values posted above). Not that long ago we finished above them in the champs; is it really such an act of treason to suggest we ought to see what lessons we can learn from such a rapid and radical transformation in our respective fortunes? Seems a good number on here think precisely that, and would rather we entrench the divide rather than bridge it. Personally I would rather see us return to the glories of the sort of team I watched on The Big Match Revisited yesterday.
