Serious question. Do you feel optimistic that Ipswich can now kick on and get promoted? Or do you think we only battered Doncaster cos they are complete sheeite??
I'm still on the fence but still hopeful. Hope that doesn't make me a happy clapper. |
Doncaster were abysmal but it was criminal that we are/were so low in the table. I think it is too late probably for top 2 and that should have been our expectation, we can make top 6 but it needs to be spot on and we've looked far from that. I saw decent signs against Wednesday despite the result but we can't afford slip ups. Another bad run and Cook should go but until then it is with him to get it right | |

I wouldn't worry to much, think someone said last night if we win our game in hand we are only 2 points off the play offs.( To lazy to check it out myself) As you say there still a long way to go but we are slowly improving. We are clearly gonna be stronger in the 2nd half of the season then we were the first. Cooks a top manager and hopefully by the end of the season we will all have no reason to doubt him. |  | | |

Hmmm, maybe we haven't quite had the rub of the green so far though. I don't think a 12 point gap is uncatchable when potentially anyone can beat anyone in this league. A nice little run of wins would eat into that. Wigan have just lost to Wednesday after all. Just not convinced we can improve enough to be better than Sunderland, Wigan, Rotherham etc but it's certainly not impossible. And I'm desperately trying to keep the faith.
It's just that we were so, so bad against Bolton. And I haven't got that out of my system yet. |  | | |

At the time, Oxford were sitting 6th, but with Wycombe winning that changed the dynamics of the league table by the end of the night. The fact is we still have to play Sunderland and Wigan home and away, we win those games then that naturally closes the gap. I feel some believe that both the Mackems and Latics aren't going to have a challenging spell during the season, they will at some point and that's going to be really interesting to see how they react. | |

but they have been unlucky against other decent teams - they have not been thrashed so far this season so just maybe we made them look bad but our absolute dominance of the midfield, something we haven't been about to brag about all season. Own the middle of the park and the rest falls into place. We have a decent back 5 but when the midfield is constantly loosing the ball they are under pressure constantly so something will give. We also have a great attacking line up but again when not getting the supply from the centre of the park you wont score. Last night all the ducks lined up. yes they were poor, but we were good! |  | | |

I agree. I think Wycombe missed a trick there and had the opportunity to keep the foot firmly on our throat if they had played us when originally scheduled. | |

I know I shouldn't. I know it's a baited hook. But....you write such juicy morsels that ...well... I just have to....bite.
We just played probably (injuries allowed) our best team line-up. We met the bottom club and rightly thrashed them. We may just about be starting to gel (yeah that word).
Back passes are part of keeping possession and moving defences about. Watch the best in the Prem - they do it too. It's called recycle and go again. It relies on front players working their nuts off and showing for the ball. It involves working out where the weaknesses are and trying to exploit them. We'll find out against the better sides where we are but sure as hell we are better than last week, better than last month, and way, way, way better than the last decade or should that be decayed.

I think you are making more of it than it was. 1st half we had a chance to put a terrible team to the sword but weren't too negative at times, we paid the price so many times in the past for similar. 2nd half we changed and got the results. Love the way this is triggering the same lot that always get triggered by football knowledge. I heard you all abuse me for it last season and the one before too. Doncaster are abysmal but we have to be more positive when not under pressure or we will struggle about better sides. I was right about that before and I am again now. Beating the poor teams is not enough we need to win most of our remaining games |

Blue. When you watch the game back. It's not surprising we played it safe at times first half. Donny set up man to mam in their half. I'd rather us keep possession than be drawn into pushing things that aren't there.
Second half. Donny changed shape and the gaps were massive across the park after 10 mins of trying to get at us and getting all put of shape.
Fair play to wellens he tried something but when you watch back he actually killed donny himself by changing it, the game had gone anyway, what he did was give us space to play and pass forwards into. Something Donny gave us little of first half. |  |
