Just bought my ticket for the Portsmouth away game. It will be my first game of the season and first ever going on my own! I'm a little nervous to be honest but mainly excited.

Anyone else go to games on their own or is it just me that's a Billy-no-mates? Any tips for solo Town fans?

I travel to most games on my own these days, used to be with friends or nephews but as they’ve got older they don’t go anymore. :o)

I'm sure someone from on here will recognise you from you avatar/pic and come up to you to say hello

I go on my own all the time, always have done.

Much prefer to be with my own thoughts during a match rather than have some berk nattering nonsense in my earhole for 90mins.

I'll be the one in an Ipswich shirt.

Thanks for the replies, nice to know I'm not on my own (so to speak)

Plenty do it. I do from time-to-time and enjoy it.

I do it quite frequently for away trips and always enjoy it - somehow gives a different perspective on the game and living away from Suffolk, it feels like a slice of home as well.

I quite often go to games by myself - it is just as good!

Sometimes it's just nice to go on your own where you don't have to think about pleasing anyone else and do your own thing. Once you get into the ground you're part of the collective anyway.

Same here. Always gone alone. Partly through choice but mainly because I have no friends to go with.

Same here unless I go with my old man but he becomes the natterer.

@ OP - Fratton Park is an easy 15 minute walk from the station. You’ll pass a couple of Pompey faithful community boozers along the way but nothing too heavy. Getting into the ground with isn’t the most beautiful experiences especially if it’s raining. You’ll probably have to navigate a few rain drenched pot holes and squeeze down the back of an 80’s-esq narrow walk way to get in but old school grounds are worth it for those quirks.

I’ll be there.

This.

I drive on my own, I have a beer in town on my own and go get a programme.

When I am in the ground I look around at you all and instantly fall in love with each and every one of you.

One big family.

Do it all the time, football, cricket, theatre, art exhibitions, music gigs. I live out in the sticks and 90% of the bands I'm into I don't know anyone who would have even heard of them, let alone want to go with me to see them so I'll go on my own.
