Away Support Last Night 08:42 - Nov 3 with 1868 viewspennblue

Hats off to each and everyone of you. It was FANTASTIC support.

Don't underestimate the role we played last night, key moments in the game the team were under a lot of pressure, but the team dug deep, and the songs kept coming. Hugely important during those periods of play.

A lot of these players are used to playing at a higher level, and some of them may well at times question whether they did the right thing dropping down to League One to play football for Ipswich Town. But make no mistake about it, these players can see the huge SUPPORT we have. They must be thinking "feck, if it is like this now, in League One, then what on earth is going to be like in the Championship and Premiership?".

This football club is like a Champagne bottle that has been shaken for 20 years, there is a tsunami building behind this football club and I can't wait for the bottle to finally be popped.

Yes, the Town support was good, but please let's stop singing the endless pointless & embarrassing anti-Norwich songs.
Good to hear Edward Ebenezer has become part of the repertoire as it's much better to have an original Town song.

"Norwich getting battered" is great! :)

Quite. If you can’t take the p1ss out of them when they’re on course to break the lowest league points total, when can you take the p1ss out of them?

I tried (and failed) to bring back hoist up the Ipswich sail last night - whatever happened to that song?

Watching on iFollow it genuinely sounded like a home crowd for most of the night.

That was my first away game for a long while had to drag the missus along as she is the driver ,we only came from Milton Keynes so a lot closer than the majority of town fans , as I’m a season ticket holder I struggle to get home midweek games so I supplement going away when possible would of loved to go to Sunderland but there’s a family party arranged but I will be going to charlton and as many as I can

Charlton is going to be awesome. I would love us to take 3,000+ to that one.

I am just 6 miles from Wycombe's ground, was with another blue from Leighton Buzzard :)

Great night, love Paul Cook's comments:

"We're kicking into the Ipswich fans, we have to score. Their feverish enthusiasm will carry us home, they suck the ball in."

"Our fans tonight, well on the bench they were all talking about them, the players are all talking about them"

Yeah it’s crazy to sing anti-Norwich songs.

It's not crazy, just a bit irrelevant when we aren't actually playing them. It's why I prefer the one about our history and achievements to saying rude things about Delia Smith.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

TBH I thought that last night was pretty much the perfect blend of old, new, songs about players, songs about Norwich, and songs designed to boost the team.

Yep, the noise was something else. Our support is astonishing me, in a good way, at the moment. It's better than so many in the league above and, believe me, several in the top flight too. Just feel desperate that we go up this season because if we do the momentum and feel around the place could bring really special things.

Our support, both home and away, has been superb for the last 3-4 years really - we definitely deserve the nights like last night, and Pompey previously.

There was a loud chant of Blue Army from a few people getting off the train at Marylebone about 11:15 last night too.

"endless pointless & embarrassing anti-Norwich songs"?

Christ, if you can't enjoy your rivals getting a shoeing every time they stick their heads out of the coop while we're very much back on the ascendancy, when can you?

And it was hardly endless - I've not heard a town crowd that loud, that vocal, that positive, that supportive since the glory days of the premiership and the european tour.

We outsung the home fans, unbeaten at home and top of the league. Let's just enjoy that, eh?

Nice little video here, the contrast between the shear explosion of joy at Burns' goal and the spread out reaction to Celina first beating Stockdale and then scoring is great.

Anyone else spot that twelve year old in the grey doing w@nker signs after the Burns goal?
