Any tips for playing in an actual proper team please? 13:35 - Nov 5 with 2186 viewsgiant_stow

(look at me!)

I finally made the over 45s squad and am looking at the honour of 5 mins on at the end as a sub in midfield - wo! Anyone got any tips on how to play football and not make a fool of yourself?

Unfortunately, Abdul got left out and isn't very happy about it. Team politics is new to me.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

I think it's 20 years since my last 11 a side game, I was horrendously bad but somehow got picked every week, I put it down to shouting a lot like I know what I'm doing and kicking somebody up in the air every ten minutes or so.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Let them know you are there straight from the first whistle.

But seriously, you normally have more time that you think, and if under pressure, just hook it.

Make your mark.

A two footed lunge should do the trick.

Ah yes, hadn't considered that.

Perhaps a little OTT.

A gentle nip of your direct opponent's testicles in the first five minutes of the game usually sets the tone.

Starting with just walking around the dressing room/corridor, make sure you do the full range of warm-up exercises, esp the ham-string ones, or you could be out of the game with your first kick, followed by being a pain in the house to poor Lady Ullaa for the next 4 weeks 👍

The last time I played I felt like I was a cross between Ramos, Hoddle and Cruyff. The trouble is, people kept laughing at me and so you probably don't want any advice from me. If it's an over 45 team, console yourself that you won't have to deal with 20 year olds buzzing around and everyone will be equally unfit (or at least you can become as unfit as them with a bit of practice).

Other than that, just enjoy it and don't take it too seriously.

I’m awful at football but love playing. But a quote from Joey Barton (shudder) is something that I try to do, which is take the ball off players better than me, and immediately pass to players better than me. Seems to do the trick and that way I feel that I’m contributing without doing anything too fancy (which I am incapable of doing).

So when is this game? perhaps we should arrange local meet up and come and give you support from the sidelines?
