I didn't watch much of his Colchester sides, other than knowing he brought through a lot of youngsters but can't remember them being particularly high scoring | |

Varied between 65 and 80 goals a season. Is that good for league 2? No idea.
I suppose as we've been playing 4 2 3 1 all season it makes sense to have Mcgreal take it over for a bit. | |

His record at Col U was fine, nothing special but they’ve gone back a long way since he’s left so maybe it was a better job than we realised in the circumstances?
He certainly wouldn’t be my first pick, but he may be a very good fit | |

John McGreal would concern me, did an ok job with Col U, but ultimately never got them out of L2, and I believe has no real achievements to his managerial name. |  | | |

There's a very good reason Col U are struggling Joe - in the main it is to do with Cowley reducing his financial input with the laudable aim of the Club being self-sufficient.
They are on a much, much lower budget now than when McGreal was there. | |

Colchester got into the play offs in 2019/20 as a result of L2 being cut short. They were very inconsistent under McGreal a run of good form would be followed by a run of equally poor form. Think it was good fortune the season ended when it did as it followed one of those good runs where they were actually in the play offs. Had the season run it's course they may have finished anywhere in the top half
