Hideous, ostentatious looking place.
Give me a rustic shack on a Greek island beach any day.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Soulless swamp of crassness and pomposity, innit.

I found the programme utterly sickening.

Obnoxious people who think nothing of paying £80,000 for a private jet to fly them to their other home, yet pay their Filipino servants £300 per month.

It is just repulsive for someone to spend £4 million on shoes and handbags while so many in the world are starving. I hope there is a special place in hell for such selfish people.

Exactly this.

Over 22 years work, for one 8 hour flight for 4 people. Scandalous.

I also can't help but pish myself laughing looking at their ridiculous faces, WTF do most of them look like?

3) Escorts. It's incredible how many young women from all over the world are there for this, or end up there for this.

few mates went out there 2/3 years back, and these girls by the hotel pool (fake as you like) were bragging they have sugar daddies that hand them their credit cards to spend as they wish.... just a sad story all round. the old boy getting fleeced, the girls thinking thats some sort of decent life.

probably softens the blow when they are bouncing up and down on him later that night..

Went to Dubai for the second time back in November. Have friends who live out there now so went to some lovely restaurants and bars and the weather was good.

I know it’s not for everyone and that’s clear from this thread but I’ll stick my head above the parapet and say that I enjoy it. I get as irritated by ‘new money’/instagrammers/showy visitors to Dubai but take that with a pinch of salt and there are some nice people out there too.

I agree that the divide between rich and poor highlighted by the BBC show isn’t nice and it’s not a sustainable place to develop given the need for A/C (and a indoor ski slope hardly helps).

But I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and would go again. Stayed on a blow up bed in my friends apartment to save money to enjoy some lovely brunches with good music.

I equally enjoy staying in hostels in European cities, SE Asia and Africa - so it’s not about the flaunting of cash for me etc. (I haven’t got enough to flaunt)

This is how I see it, me and Mrs itfcjoe went there a few times pre kids - you know exactly what you'll get which is ultimate luxury, and anything you could want for alongside good weather

We generally wanted holidays where we could do some shopping, sit around the pool, and eat nice food - for that it works well. We don't spend thousands goign out, instagramming oursleves to look good, we just can do what we want to do when we want to do it and come back recharged.

Obviously some you see there are not our sort of people - but those people who want to be vacuous and flash that lifestyle whilst normally running up debt will do that anywhere in the world!
