I'd just like to point out that I ******* Hate the Tories. 14:13 - Feb 3 with 2776 viewshype313

I'd actually prefer to wear a Norwich Shirt from 92 (you know, the bird s**t one) everyday for the next 3 years than have to put up with this parliament of thunderc****

Sorry for the rant.

How on earth would this not cost taxpayers?
Of course the windfall tax would just be absorbed by the shareholders rather than be passed to the down the line to the customers (most of which are tax-payers)

An extremely naive view - hence why similar policies are often lauded by politicians from the left.

Are you suggesting that any tax on Shell would result in petrol prices going up ?

"If 54 letters do go in this week it is because enough Tory MPs are convinced that the blue rinses in their constituency associations won't vote for him this time in a Leadership Election. That's what all the canvassing of opinion in the constituencies is about. "

That's not how it works.

It is not a leadership contest. It is a vote of (no) confidence. In which the gutbucket needs only to win a yes/no vote by the one vote. Stays as PM.

Lose by one vote of more (only Tory MPs voting) and he is out. Once out it is then a free for all with candidates being firstly eliminated if they don't garner a certain number of votes, then a knockout where the lowest is eliminated until there are two candidates. It is then thrown open to the wider Party membership.

However a couple of points should be noted. The confidence vote is a secret ballot. So the buffoon won't know who supported/opposed him. Anything other than a hefty win would see him out, as it would be thought he does not command the confidence of his Parliamentary MPs. Which could lead to them voting with the opposition to bring him down on a motion of no confidence by all MPs

The other consideration is that those wanting him out will know how many supporters they have. Letters prove nothing. It will be coordinated, and until there is a hefty number they will ensure that 54 are not submitted - to avoid going too early.

To placate angry constituents, and local branches the thought is MPs need to wait until the Met report. A convenient delay, as every day brings more evidence of the obese ones lying, incompetence and failings.

The damning thing is the silence. Bar the 'not too bright' Rees-Mogg, Dorries and a handful of no hopers from the bank benchers, the big hitters are keeping silent ie no support.

I’ve long thought ‘take back control’ is the only accurate slogan they’ve used. The problem is a lot of people didn’t realise they meant to take the control and exploit it themselves.

Ha! It’s funny because it’s true.

Who was that sarky character in the Office or some other office-based comedy who used to tut all the time and toss their head?

It’s perfect but I just can’t remember.

Pronouns: He/Him

I never really understood how people could have such hostile opinions towards politicians back when the only difference between them was the colour of their tie (yes Darth, we know...) but now I know. I have never disliked a government as much as this one. The vast majority, if now all, of the cabinet are complete pr1cks.

I just hope we don't go from Johnson to Sunak or one of the equally repellent snakes like Raab.

That’s the trouble…. Even the buffoon does go, all the likely candidates (and many of the unlikely ones) are just as bad in different ways.

Sunak, Gove, Patel, Truss, Raab, Rees-Mogg…. What a depressing thought.
