The Top 10 if current form continues 19:45 - Feb 5 with 2976 viewsGlasgowBlue

Looking at the form over the past six games for the runners and the riders.

Rotherham 2.5 points per game
MK Dons 2.5 points per game
Wigan 2.33 points per game
Bolton 2.17 Points per game
Shef Wed 2 Points per game
Ipswich 2 points per game
Oxford 1.66 points per game
Wycombe 1.66 points per game
Plymouth 1.66 points per game
Sunderland .66 points per game

If the top 10 maintain this form then the Top 6 will be:

1. Rotherham 105
2. Wigan 103
3. MK Dons 95
4. Shef Wed 83
5. Wycombe 80
6. Plymouth 79
7. Oxford 77
8. Ipswich 76
9. Bolton 76
10. Sunderland 65

Not a perfect science by any means. Teams will drop in form. Many of the top ten will have to play each other. But it's a good indication for those who are writing off the season that one extra win and we can make the top six.

Indeed. We need to at least maintain 2 ppg (and hopefully do even better) and hope the likes of Wycombe/Plymouth/Oxford drop off in form (and/or Sunderland do not regain decent form).

I am not writing us off, but I also think it is a big ask.

the fact that we're this close. after suck a cook-up with the start of the season, is proof of the standard of the league. Have we played "well" about 4 times?

Sunderland are really risking falling away.

They'll bring in McCarthy or Cook who will turn them around.

I tend to think it's beyond us, but stranger things have happened.

I just hope that McKenna doesn't 'almost' get us up and someone bigger comes and pinches him like Chelsea did with Lampard at Derby.

One really important note to be added here - a fair number of those games are between those 10sides - so that form average is far too fragile to calculate a points tally with (for all 10 sides).

Sunderland won't finish on 65 points, but as you say it indicates that we're in with a shout which was unbelievable prior to the introduction of McKenna. Fair play.

We pretty much have, six games includes both defeats under McK. Any other number of games back to 12 and we have the same or more points as them.

Shame we gave away a poor goal so early in that one, a draw there would have taken a couple of points off them.

A week ago we would finish 3 points off the play offs. Now we are finishing two points off the play offs. We've gone from 2 points a game to 2.2 points a game.

Sheffield Wednesday in the sort of form that could see them take the second automatic spot.
