Our strikers are good enough…. 18:57 - Feb 26 with 2645 viewsitfcjoe

…just need someone to get into a bit of form.

But even if we change them in the summer we are going to struggle to upgrade on a 4 of Jackson, Norwood, Pigott and Bonne

All 4 can score goals at this level and all 4 have done so - just need one of them to grab hold of an opportunity and kick on.

It’s very frustrating, but McKenna doing a fantastic job and I haven’t been this confident in an Ipswich manager in a very long time.

We are very nearly there, just too much to do this season and with a bit of turnover in the summer I can’t wait to see what McKenna can do

We’ve managed to get Walton, Morsy etc to drop to league 1… I wouldn’t be surprised to see us bring in a top quality striker in the summer.
I’ve no idea who, but the spine of the team would be littered with Championship players.

We’ll be good again... one day

It certainly did not feel like we had 22 shots! I don't feel like we created that many clear cut opportunities.

I know football is all about subjective opinions but... honestly, what game were you watching?!

I’d say Pigott is technically our most gifted striker. For whatever reason he’s had a poor first season here ( his fathers sudden death may have a lot to do with it tbh ) …. Give him a full pre season with us and see how he goes next season. I think he’ll come good. He just needs a strike partner.!

I agree - I see similarities with Keiffer Moore. He is technically very good, and can obviously score, given the right set up. Needs a strike partner and two crossing wide players

Tbh those in the top 6 have a mixture of things we don't have and it's not strikers.

Goals from corners
Set piece specialists
Long distance scorers

We tend to have tap in strikers, ( I say tap in, I mean more in box strikers or tap in midfielders bar Celina who has scored 1 goal from distance, he used to score a handful from outside the box but he never seems to connect with them.

Corners. Well we are sht at them.

Set pieces. When did we last score direct from a freekick?

We need to do more work on our set pieces, I certainly feel we are missing a trick with these to the point like they don't really matter if we get a corner or a free kick on the edge of the box. They are such a good outlet in games when it gets tight or the team is struggling for goals, frankly we need to be better at them. I look at a side like Burnley in the EPL, you can see Dyche working on set piece delivery and setting up continuously as he knows it provides a good opportunity for his side to score goals. This isn't a dig at KM because we've been poor with these for a number of seasons now, but it's certainly something KM's coaching team can get us doing better and getting more reward from in going forwards.

Norwood scored over 30 goals the season he wasn’t clinical, if Tranmere fans claim that they are taking out of their backsides - how many goals would he have scored if he was ‘clinical’? 50?

People need to look at the strikers that are going to get promoted this season, are there any people would be desperate to swap with? The top scorer in the league Ross Stewart has missed more ‘big chances’ than any other player in the league

Bonne is badly out of form, and his hot streak makes it look worse now.

I’m sure there will be a big overhaul in the forward positions in the summer as McK targets players that fit more into his style - but on paper it’s not going to look much better. Whilst we haven’t scored as many since McK came in - it’s only in recent weeks we’ve started creating a good amount

Norwood was prolific at Tranmere, not clinical. I trust the judgement of their fans based on some of the chances he's missed here.
