While it sums up the blatant self-interest of Rees-Mogg, it also highlights the know-it-all-but-ultimately-enabling nature of the centrists.
We’ve known for years about RM’s financial/governmental “conflict”. Just like we’ve known about Boris lying or smears against the opposition. As well as countless examples of politicians of all stripes that have been out for themselves almost from Day One. And a media that backs them up and always takes their share.
I like a lot of what Russ has to say but it’s the years of snarky yet ultimately self-centred criticisms that do my head in. C@nts like JRM are beyond the pale but when push comes to shove there’s still this relentless appeal to the status quo and some imaginary standards that are never going to emerge on their own.
It’s a hamster wheel of despair. Get off it and talk about policies and real change. |  |

It was a podcast series called The Coming Storm with Gabriel Gatehouse which is available on BBC Sounds.
It didn't say he was creating false narratives, more that his book 'The Sovereign Individual' predicted a huge amount of what was happening with regards to the internet age, with regards to how the ultra rich wouldn't be bound by national rules as can just move money about freely in order to stay outside of anywhere they don't like - but that it could almost be seen as instruction manual in a way to the mega rich - and almost chicken or egg between doing it and being able to do it.

Thanks Joe I can listen properly now. The snippet I heard was where the reporter made up a conspiracy and some academics said it fell into the realms of being quite possible and he didn't even bring Jacob into the narrative. | |
