That's heartbreaking and so depressing.

Near my place there's a small monument with plastic flowers. I thought it was one the typical remembrance sites from a car accident, they're everywhere beside the roads here. This one was a bit more substantial so I looked into it.

In 1938 Franco's forces poured into the Catalan Pyrenees following a couple of successful battles, they then met little or no resistance as the Republican fighters were either killed, taken prisoner or escaped over the mountains to France. The aftermath was pretty shocking and there are similar stories from all over the region.

In this case nine locals (2 women and 7 men) were accused by their neighbours of being Republican sympathisers, not combatants or local politicians. They were to be transferred to the local prison in an army truck but it broke down on the way. One of the soldiers walked to the nearest village to call the regional hq what to ask what to do. He was told they were to shoot the villagers. The nine locals were shot by the side of the road, one of the women was raped before being killed. They were dumped together in a ditch and covered up.

All this because some neighbours bore some sort of grudge against them. So barbaric it made me think of the "witches" who were accused by neighbours is Salem and Ipswich Mass. You'd think we might have moved on in 350 years. Now 80 years later in Ukraine history is repeating. It's hard to express how depressing this all is.

I’m sure they’ll be relieved that we’re buying a bit less stuff from the Russians and not letting them launder quite as much money here. Obviously we’ve the nukes issue, but it’s so bloody frustrating that Putin isn’t being forcibly removed.

Among those committing these dreadfully obscene acts you'd think there would be many who oppose them.

Clearly they don't oppose the actions strongly enough or are too afraid to speak up.

It's heart breaking to read these articles and some of the accounts.

I worked with a lady a few years ago who was born in this country but had a very Spanish look and surname. One day we were enjoying a coffee and she told me that her father, as a small child, and grandparents had fled from Spain when Franco won.

She told me that to this day that there are parts of Spain, including the area where her family comes from, that are off limits, because of her name. Most of her family at that time died in the fighting or were murdered during and after it.

As you rightly point out, history is repeating itself. We’ve not moved on at all. Perhaps Putin will learn how William the Conqueror harried the north after 1066 in his bedtime reading, or how the Romans did it or even Darius’ Persians before that.

Even after the Balkans tragedy, Middle East, Afghanistan, it’s still happening. Why? For what? A few maniacs’ egos? Depressing as you rightly say.

"it’s so bloody frustrating that Putin isn’t being forcibly removed."

How? Everyone is scared of him. Us, because we honestly believe he might trigger WWIII, and his inner circle because they are scared about what will happen to them and their families.

Even his generals have to spend three days in isolation in the Kremlin before they can see him, where they are repeatedly searched.

Its not outside the realms of possibility this guy could launch a tactical Nuke, we've already seen disinformation this week in state controlled media suggesting that Boris might go against NATO and launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike against Moscow. Which has all the hallmarks of preparing a false flag.

Any attempt to remove him by force will be interpreted as an act of war, and thats the end of all of us.

Tactical nuclear weapons range from 1 to 100 kilotons, according to the BBC. The Hiroshima bomb was 15 kilotons. If Russia starts throwing these about on what they intend to be their own territory it’ll be even more insane than the last couple of months - and could well spell the end of everything for everyone.

I don’t think it will happen because Putin is full of fear and I doubt he truly wishes to finish up as an irradiated pile of ash.

(Reuters) - Russia said on Friday that its forces had destroyed the production facilities of a space-rocket plant in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv with high precision long-range missiles.

"The armed forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation in Ukraine," the defence ministry said.

"High-precision long-range air-based weapons destroyed the production facilities of the Artem rocket and space industry enterprise in the city of Kyiv."

Maybe if Putin wasn't backed in his invasion of Crimea in 2014 by the likes of Johnson, Le Pen and Farage he would not have been so confident of success

Coincidentally they were all in the pay of Putin

Q: How can that stance co-exist with this one?

A: It can’t.
Just more evidence (as if it was needed) that Boris is a shameless self serving opportunist.

It’s interesting Putin has apologised, kissed and made up with Israel today. They obviously are keen to keep them inside, possibly because of their military capability and threat to their Syrian satellite?

Also interesting is the Belarus puppet’s comment about the length of time the Ukraine meal is taking and more interestingly the twitching of his rear end about nuclear weapon deployment next door. I suspect Putin will be on the phone to him and a heart attack maybe in the way if he doesn’t get back on message.
