Our best striker.

Hopefully we find a better one next season.

Still would have kept him as an impact player for one more year. But trust the process.

Really pleased for him to sign off like that. But we can, and need to have better up front

While someone pulls on the blue and white and gives their all i will support them 100 percent.

Once they're no longer an ITFC player that's it. Good luck to them but that's it.

On to the next man. I hope we get it right and can't wait for next season to start.

I'm not convinced he'd have signed a new deal tbh even if offered. Glad he's scored a few goals this season and won't leave under a dark cloud as he seemed destined to a short while back. A great natural finisher on his day, but onwards and upwards.

not our best current striker or our best historical one.

i wouldn't have kept him, but glad he signed off with a goal.

tranmere could still make the playoffs, so it might not be the last we see of him

I hope this indicates that KM and the team are confident in their striker target for next year. What I wouldn't give for a 20+ goal per season striker again. That's what we need, composed, consistent and not injury prone.

yes definitely (although pigott seemed to fit the bill last year!).

what's clear is that norwood isn't our 20-goals a season man, he's had 3 goes without coming close!

28 goals in 88 apps. Basically 1 in 3. Not a rip raring success but not a bad strike rate either. Wish him well as you can't deny his effort and passion, even if it was sometimes a little mis-directed.

Pigott was a curiosity really - He just never fit in to Cook's plans in the early season, and never seemed to find any confidence there after.

You have to factor in he’s played in a team that hasn’t created loads of chances.
I think he’d go well at Oxford.

so who in your opinion is our best striker? Don't disagree with letting him go but he has the best record of any of our strikers in terms of goals per game...

Nah, but then neither did Wigan, Sunderland, Cheltenham, Morcombe, MK Dons or Oxford either.

Such a shame in so many ways tbh. Norwood has had what 3 seasons here? But he’s never really stepped up to the plate at this level on a consistent level.

His off the field antics haven’t helped his cause, and his strong arm in yer face ( dare I say pub team) approach at times hasn’t helped him either.

He clearly knows where the goal is , and will no don’t go on to play well at his next club, but maybe at 32 hrs of age, it was time to look in a different direction and as McKenna often says , player profile is what is likely to change for us as a Club next season.

I wish Nors well next season…..( just not against us) ….

it's ok, but it's less than 10 goals a season, which wasn't what we expected when we signed him.

Looking at Will Keane this season, a player we all probably saw as OK, finishing as the leading scoring really does highlight how poor our medical/sport science set up has been. McGoldrick did much better with fitness when he left too! Who knows, maybe Nowrood will get over his injury frequency also - but one can only hope we've mad the necessary improvements behind the scenes for the new cast.

probably mariner, but stewart's more my era

of the current (ish!) batch, this season it was bonne, jackson has the highest ceiling.

jackson certainly fits the mckenna style best, but i think he will be looking for anew first-choice striker

goals per games means nothing if you're only fit enough to play a small number of games each season

I wonder how many Town fans would have been happy at the start of the season had we signed Will Keene and Troy Parrott though?

It's also less than 30 games a season when the club probably play ca. 55 each year at this level. Unfotunately, he has had some injuries and clearly fell out with Cook.

Nice way to sign off.... He kinda had the last word, in a good way.... I'm sure he'll have a few suitors.... As already mentioned in a previous post, I think we could and should be looking for better..

did he fall out with cook? was effusive in his praise for him when he was sacked, appeared to hint at problems elsewhere...

a propensity for injuries and not looking after himself elsewhere means we can use his high wages more productively

To be clear, I was obviously not saying he was our best ever striker! Best we have/had now. Best goals to game ratio for us while he's been here, whilst feeding off scraps most of the time.
