I assume it was his last match before retirement. What I imagine were his family had come to the match as he was embracing them in the stand after the game and he seemed very emotional to be leaving a job he must have loved. Gave me a sense of relief that it must have been a nice match to finish on and that he didn't have to be involved in any contencious decisions that could have seen him on the receiving end of any abuse. Also one of those nice little reminders we all need every so often that the match officials really are actual people too.
