Bolton still the same thuggish , shytehousery team I see ! 17:53 - Jul 30 with 5258 viewsArnieM

The football team nearly won it and should have done. Apart from their diving con of a penalty and corners ( thisisn’t rugby or hockey Bolton!!) they did very little to make Walton move .
Much to be positive about today I think .

"Tricks". This is football we're talking about, not a children's party.

Not having that.

As soon as you excuse cheating as being part of the game you may as well not bother.

This sh1t idea started with phrases such as 'won' a free kick/penalty.

You do not 'win' a penalty et al. You are awarded one in compensation for the opposition's failure to respect the game.

Any other acceptance and it's no longer 'sport'.

Edit: and before someone starts, because they will as always, I'm talking about grappling one of our players to the ground and then sitting on the floor like a victim, before standing up and holding the arms out in faux innocence.

Falling over when hardly touched looking for some reward etc...

Hate it, always have.

Ok when we do it though?!?! When you’ve played have you never appealed for a throw in/corner when you know it came off you? Happens all the time in every game. If we’d got the second goal we deserved no one would care

Spot on jeera. There was a Bolton player who went down yesterday with cramp, which is fair enough - if he wasn't a sub that had just come on!

Even whilst taking his time to come on he stopped and briefly went back to get some more instructions from the manager, as if he hadn't had time to get them all beforehand (and those instructions were probably the aforementioned 'go down as soon as you get the chance').

I can't believe there are people in this thread happy with this sort of behaviour. We're here to watch football. If I wanted to watch acting I'd go to the theatre.

ffs nobody is happy with it, but you wont ever stamp it out, and moaning like a little girl wont help fck all

the players just need to overcome the sht of this league. i also bet 100000% that if we ever make it to the prem and are holding on to a 1-1 away from home you'd be happy we "play the game" and frustrate the other team in the same way

It's a football discussion board fella. No-one's moaning like a little girl. Nothing we discuss on here is of any great consequence so with your logic Phil might as well close the forum down.

weird reply.

the little girl moaning came from the stands when bolton dared to try and stop us playing so they could get something from the game, been happening for 4 years in this league now, its not a new thing, but people are so hung up over it.

i'm fine mate, you worked out how to sort a house survey and mortgage yet?

We have a vocal minority of wannabe hoolie weapons innit. Early/mid twenties. Confused about atmosphere and this idea that abusing some random oppo players makes you a big man. I swear not a single one of these clowns has been in a fight in their lives. Not saying that's a bad thing of course. It is a pretty small minority at least.

Can't believe the stick you're getting for the OP. It's not particularly whiney and yes they were a bit dirty and certainly trying to waste time with all the usual tricks we expect in this league now. Yes we have to learn to deal with it but it doesn't mean it's alright and people shouldn't point it out.

One could be forgiven for thinking this isn't an Ipswich board by reading this thread.

Firstly, it was a penalty. Secondly, Bolton were far from thuggish. Agree about the time wasting, but all sides do that including us. If anything it shows it was two points dropped. Good game though, and exciting second half notwithstanding the lack of proper clear cut chances.

Come on, we don't employ the dirty tricks that some do in this league. The lad going down with 'cramp' shortly after coming on - I've never seen an Ipswich player do that at any level.

I agree about the pen.

Embarrassing. Though Norwood is pretty embarrassing as well so whatever. But yes, when/if Norwood scores after being wound up he will be perfectly entitled to give it back. Not sure why these morons think abusing the oppo players puts them off rather than completely the other way round.

Not saying there's anything wrong with yelling/chanting stuff at the oppo, but make it witty ffs rather than screaming abuse you would never ever do in the street. Coked up little punks innit, though I doubt there's much actual cocaine in the stuff these clowns are buying.

we are 1-1 at man city in 3 years time, 75mins, and our lot start dropping like flies to waste time, we walk away with a point, are you ok with this, or not?

God knows why we're moaning about Bolton after just one game of the season. They gave us a football lesson for the first half hour. I thought they were a good side who came here to win. It wasn't their tactics that cost us.... we just didn't put that chance away. If Morsy had scored..... we could have celebrated Boltons 'sh1thousery' because it ate up precious seconds at the end. Thought we had plenty of chances to win that, but some fans just love to feel 'cheated'. Guess it's all part of the pantomime.

You never asked me a question.

But if you had my answer would be a bit of it is fine and to be expected. It's the OTT use by many in this league that irks me, like it's their main tactic (some of them).

Lol , I hope you used the term “ football” as a loose term where they were concerned..

I will say their high pressing game was very good for the first 29mins and then they s8mp,y ran out of steam ( or the plane 2as for 9ne l 20mins of high pressure? )… but once we started to get into our game and play the ball around , that was ( form me anyway), when their physicality went up sev3al notches.

I realise this is how it is , in this division, and as long as Ive watched Town play, we have NEVER dealt with any side that adopts the more “ physical” approach. It is up to us ,( I agree with others on here about that), that we must try to do battle with these teams . We all know that. But I still maintain, that the refs have their part to play in controlling the level of “ challenges” ring metered out. Bolton took out several of our players. This frankly was all they appeared good at. But the ref on,y booked one of their players in that first half.

Do we get street poise and start rolling around like our opponents then? Is that what we want t9 see Town do. If yioucan’t beat it, do likewise? Not sure I’d like us to be like Bolton, Whycombe, et al. But unfortunately I think that’s what we will be watching a lot of at PR this season. I just hope we can overcome it.

Just my views fellas, nothing more sinister than that.

NEVER, that's a big word !
So we've never dealt with a physical approach despite having players like Jefferson, Baxter, Morris, Hammond, Beattie,Mariner,Butcher, Osman and Hunter ? To name a few.
In 1981 did we get out muscled, I don't think so.
I would say that generally we've been a footballing team, but to use the would NEVER.......

Think we will have to get used to that.

Teams being happy to take a yellow to stop a dangerous attack. One late on where Burns could have gone through and their man kicked out and we didn’t even get a free kick.

Watched it again on iFollow this morning. Ref did very well in fairness. Didn’t get much wrong. The odd yellow he could have given and the odd he could have let go but given what we’ve often had as refs he was one of the better ones.

Bolton weren’t too dirty. Just a bit cynical at times to stop us breaking through.

Totally agree. Like Townsend who I first heard saying 'he was entitled to go down there'. Awful awful commentator and even worse pundit.

But but but... sure there were a couple of occasions yesterday but I don't remember Bolton doing it that much, except for time wasting. Thought the ref was alright as well.

Then again I was really pissed, so I can't really say.

I don’t think anyone on here is of the view that the game should be a no contact sport. You’ve just tried to make 2+2=150. There’s a BIG difference from a hefty challange ( I saw plenty of those in the 1970’s in the Dirty Leeds era etc and shoulder charges thst put a player in the stands, to complete shytehousery thst teams deploy these days. Which is beyond cynical in my view. Eg players going down like they’ve been hit by an Exocet missile, and then rolling around like South Americans used to do in Workd cup games . The Bolton player did that yesterday then got up and jogged off . No booking for obviously trying trying to get out player booked or sent off. The deliberate targeting of JJ within minutes of him coming on . The persistent time wasting by their players (GK throwing the ball away etc). The game in the 70’s was hard and physical but there wasn’t this cheating and so called “gamesmanship” thst goes in these days and especially in this division : it’s pub football because the players / teams don’t have the skills to beat an opponent fairly .

Bolton amply demonstrated that yesterday , and as someone else alluded to, get ready for plenty more of that this season at PR. THATS why it’s “ difficult” to get out of this league snd for no other reason. It’s up to the refs to Marshall this , but they’re poor officials in the main. So Town players NEED to wise up and deal with it, coz they’ll get minimal protection from the officials . But it says a lot about how low the game has sunk in terms if this shytehousery when supposed “ footballing” teams like Bolton resort to it as their only perceived method of beating a proper football team. So if you’re making excuses for this shytehousery, that’s more a reflection on you , than onTown!

Fair enough. Thanks for clarifying. When i said i didn't see much to get annoyed about, i meant that literally - i didn't see it. I was watching on ifollow and the cameras obviously cut away to crowd shots etc. It would have been easier to pick up on if you were in the ground.

I think my rant about non-contact sport was more to do with the fact that i was still sore about being vilified for a particularly tasty tackle i made in my game that afternoon.
