I was talked out of the patio-ing and have been pulling brambles. Blinkin things, my arms look like I’ve plunged them into a barrel of fighting cats.

Brambles are nasty. I wear long leather gauntlet gloves, thick trousers and a thick coat with the hood up, but I still end up with loads of scratches all over the place. It's the overhead ones that get me particularly, and I normally end up with blood pouring down my face, as well as scratches on the arms. | | | |

A shredder is probably the best for them but you have to take care they don't hit you in the face as you feed them in. If you don't have a shredder, another option is to let them die off a bit because they become a little less lethal when they turn brown. | | | |
