I cannot see KM taking that job....but I'd be surprised if they don't enquire. [Post edited 14 Sep 2022 13:55]

Are there people on here who actually want Mckenna to go? If not, why post these ridiculous threads?

So...the Huddersfield job has become available. on 13:58 - Sep 14 by Fixed_It | Yes - but this is going to get very tedious very quickly. Clubs will be interested. He will stay here. |
Stumbled onto this very speculation on Twitter this afternoon and trust it’s already very tedious. And dull. And witless. That was just the initial post and it’s response. I lost interest quickly.

It demeans who we are, what he has said, what he is doing, and it picks at his commitment to progress over the next years. He’s 36, he spent 14 years coaching, he wants success on his cv, he’s not a jumper. It is v v v unlikely that he will go anywhere until end of season, v v unlikely he will leave then either, especially if we have been promoted or were very close. Let’s focus on the football.

It would be interesting to know how he's perceived outside of Ipswich. I'm sure clubs are keeping an eye on him. However, so far, realistically he's got us where we should be with a squad that is ostensibly too good for this level, albeit with a great deal of style.

It’s a good point. From our perspective, we’ve had 20 years of sliding down with only the occasional and limited resurgence that paused the slide but never fully reversed it. So clearly we’re delighted to finally see a coach getting his squad playing some lovely stuff, having a real balance front to back and side to side, and looking like genuine favourites for promotion. Also that we can sense over the horizon that we would compete pretty well in the Championship and we have a squad that’s more than just a good base to build on there. From the outside, we’re at the top of the list of spenders in the league, have doubled up in every position and are generally sweeping aside teams that are way behind us in player and financial resources. On that score, there’s little that is beyond reasonable expectations for most managers. I’m sure football insiders would look beyond that and see how McKenna seems to have taken on the responsibility and man management aspects of the job as if he’s been doing it for years – and his pedigree as a coach at the very top level will always make him interesting. But I think people would still need to see us show more than being a big fish in a small pond before they really start paying attention. Hopefully, around this time next year as we hit the ground running in the Championship ... 🥳
