Couple to watch for 16:39 - Sep 26 with 2880 views | Pompey1234 | I think ipswich are strong all over the park but if I had one criticism of them is that McKenna makes strange subs. I have read several reports from your games and watched Sunday. He replaced his players who for one reason or another were not 'doing it' for him. Harness had a rhythm of playing 4 hood games and then a couple of bad ones or ones where he disappeared. Cowley got around that by changing shape, this helped Marcus at the time. It seems McKenna doesn't react to the game. Schumacher did against us both and I'm impressed by him. Plymouth have a good manager there. As for us, we have good players but lose them and after a couple of subs we start to lose something. Dane Scarlett. Cowley pulled off a masterstroke getting this lad. His running isn't wasted, you can see he has been coached well. He times his runs perfectly and springs offside traps continuously. He has great pace and is brave. He's got a great future and is scoring goals. Colby Bishop He will play slightly deeper with Dane up front and this blunts him a little but 2nd half he'll play higher as we go for crosses into the box and his heading and strength have seen him score 6 already. Owen Dale Tricky winger from Blackpool where he never got a chance. He is getting better every game. He has the ability to beat his man or men and provides great crosses from the right. Josh Koroma We have had him for just two games and one of those was as sub. He has an assist from the first game and a 'worldie' from the Plymouth game and pompey fans are excited to see if he can keep this up. Plainly to good for league 1. Cowley was at Huddersfield when he was making waves. No brained for him to come to Pompey and its started well. You have Morsy and we have Pack. Cracking midfielder, way to good for this league but we got him because pompey is his hometown club. He had multiple offers in championship. Ogilvie left back Has been steady at back, great in the air and brilliant got g forward. Curtis A class player that gets under opposition skin but I expect him to be on the bench against you. A great player to bring on. We will look to settle into the game. We have been distinctly second best at Wednesday first half and 1 down but roasted them 2nd half when we exploited space behind their wing backs. If you give us space to get crosses in, pompey can hurt you. I just hope the occasion doesn't get to them. Good luck to you after this game and the one at fratton obviously. Regards

Couple to watch for on 18:30 - Sep 26 with 2203 views | Dennyx4 | Thanks for the summary, interesting read. Agree re Plymouth Manager, thought he tweaked his formation against us, as the original set up wasn't working and we didn't respond quickly enough. Looking at the game coming up, think there will be a contrast in styles with you having more width and us having bigger numbers centrally - will be fascinating to see the tactical battle ahead. Our formation is similar to the way Plymouth play, so Cowley may have gained a little bit of insight on how to play based on your recent game. Likewise, good luck after the game on Saturday. On a side note, am reading the Paul Mariner book, and forgot that he played for Pompey with Micky Quinn, now that would be a great striking partnership.

Yes, sir Paul Mariner only played for us at the end of his career but he never lost his scoring touch. Micky Quinn. 'He's fat, he's round , he's worth a million pound, micky Quinn. Outside the box he was nothing, inside the box, he was absolutely lethal. Great days they were. Plymouth were easy on the eye and I expect the same from you. They were exploited out wide and we should have been out of sight by half time and a man down to boot. The standard of refereeing in this league made sure they were still in touch luckily. I'm sure we are not the only team to think refs are abysmal in this league. Schumacher made changes and after they equalised were all over us for 15 mins. It took Cowley that long to reset. We got a deserved equaliser in the 90th minute and could even have won it after that. My fear is that you do play through us in the middle. We press higher and faster than any side I've seen including Plymouth. If we are still nils apiece after halftime, pompey fans will be expecting us to score. We've only failed to score once against Lincoln at home. They came for a point and didn't play in any way conducive to winning the game. In tight games, Dane Scarlett has normally been the difference. I don't think any defence is going to feel comfortable with him around. We got very lucky when we got him.
