I'm not sure if it's how far we've come 00:01 - Oct 30 with 8467 viewswaveneyblue

Or the absolute frailty of our fanbase....

But the pulling apart of today's performance is off the scale.

It was a freak game, its been a brilliant season, calm the actual fu*k down the lot of you (or the vast majority of you)

Please x

I guess a bit of passion in the interviews, rather than we make errors and go again, showing that anger and hurt. But, I think I said in my original post, the calm response in the long term is probably the right one - otherwise we’ll be having Cook-like press conferences instead.

KM has been calm since he arrived and has been consistent in that approach whether we win or lose, it’s worked so far and you’re right it would seem that it’s working. Heaven help us if we slip into the kind of flip flopping that Cook subjected us to, passion is all very well but it can take you into the wrong places very quickly

I suppose it’s the balance; would “it’s unacceptable and we must improve” be crossing that line? It almost feels like it’s being chalked off as one of those things and that’s what concerns me - it isn’t.

Don't tell me how I should feel, react or behave - that's arrogant, presumptious & absolutely none of your damn business quite frankly.

I do agree that "comments about needing new defenders" are ridiculous though.

Calm yourself down, I am speaking generally and not directly to you.

I said people need to .. not Ryorry needs to, however I'm beginning to consider editing it accordingly.

I will admit the bizarreness and stupidity of the situation has agitated me more than anything. I doubt I’d be more annoyed if we had narrowly lost 1-0 or 2-1, having trailed in the latter to begin with. It feels like a defeat; like we threw a golden opportunity away.

And, whilst deep down, I appreciate that “these things happen, we learn and move on”, having a sign that the manager and players are angry and hurt by this would help.

Morsy and McKenna have both talked about the anger/disappointment and the need to work on the causes (crosses lumped into the box) in training. What more do you want, them wearing sackcloth and ashes for the week?

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I'd be hoping we've been working on defending crosses before now! As I said before, more passion and less rationality would have been nice for me as that's how I feel at the moment. But I also acknowledged that the calm approach is no doubt the right one.

Freak is the right word. I said to someone that 99 times out of 100 a team winning 4-2 in injury time takes all three points. On reflection I expect it's more like 999 out of 1,000.

In another thread someone said that result "had been coming".

A result that is the talk of football twitter accounts and journalists across the land because of its freakishness had "been coming"?

I don't think so.

Nope. The calm approach is the right one to take by the management team and players. Doesn't mean I'm not still fuming at the outcome.

I wouldn’t say squandering a two-goal lead is freak, I’d argue it’s become common place. That’s the discussion, nothing more. Putting it down to force majure is bizarre.

Agree. I wasn’t there yesterday so perhaps easier to step back but some of the comments on here and elsewhere are well over the top. As KM said straight after, lots to work on, the flaws are obvious, but overall we are making significant progress on the pitch and have an outstanding manager.

We are not going to win every week but we’re on track to go up, and do it in a way that suggests to me we’ll be successful next season too in a higher division.

Is it ok to put it down to the unpredictability of football, the fact that there’s 11 players on the other team trying to score and sometimes players make mistakes (they are human after all) rather than some inherent flaw in the club/team/KMs approach. Sometimes I think some supporters will only be satisfied if we have the ball for 90 minutes, score at will and never let the ball reach our penalty area.

Even McKenna acknowledge the flaws - mental weakness by letting emotions getting the better of us and the inability to defend deep crosses.

Nah.. We'd never get away with a 4th kit.

I agree with most of that, uppied it.

However, one thing that you & several people have mentioned is the "odd setback like this" & reassurance that it'll somehow magically be "all be alright in the end."

I think the main reason for my (& possibly others') reactions (*NB not* "over-reactions") is that we're all to horribly aware it might *not* be alright in the end, we are *not* guaranteed to be in the top two come end of season, and that those two points which slipped off our team's soapy boots & down the drain in the screaming abdabs rocky horror show that was the last 2 mins of yesterday's game, could be the difference between promotion in May 23 & another season in L1, which might mean us sliding backwards again.

Potentially so tantalisingly near, yet so far - it's absolutely of maximum, crucial, key import, & people being very aware of that is why so many of us are (still!) wound up & reacting passionately.

Sounds like a long excuse for bedwetting to me.

I think it's the frail mentality of the fanbase.

We've been so accustomed to being crap, that being decent (but with a few bumps in the road) is something are struggling to deal with.
