Turnstile News for Saturday: dedicated ones for upper and lower North 19:17 - Nov 10 with 1955 viewsSteve_M

I suspect the main reason is that the lower concourse is overcrowded at times and, whilst the noise at times is great, the potential for accidents is increasing. There have been plenty of times before this season when entry into the North has been delayed because the concourse is really full.

Badly designed stand from the start!

Also stops people cramming into SBRL having got a ticket for the upper.

Turnstile 34 is my lucky turnstile.
Ridiculous I know, but I've used that turnstile for every single game since the North reopened, other than the odd occasion I sit in the Cobbold upper with the kids.
That will really mess with my prematch traditions!

Edit: And the Covid game against Pompey that I've tried my very best to eradicate from my memory.

you dont have to invent new turnstiles to do that, you spot the areas where there are problems, and theyre pretty obvious which ones they are, send in stewards to ask to see peoples tickets, with a police escort if you must, and move those who are in the wrong sections, if they persist in doing it over multiple games, you kick them out the ground/cancel their tickets, or ability to buy tickets in the future.

Quite annoying as me and my mates have a half time drink in the upper tier bar every game, presumably that now won’t be allowed.

How is that easier than putting up a bit of tape and having a steward point people upstairs?

It's a preventative measure and one that's going to be needed if we're likely to attract 25k+ every week. I have heard stories of people buying £1 kids tickets for upstairs and squeezing in SBRL two to a seat.

If they're doing this presumably they're doing something about the entrance to the South Stand on PR as well?

I happened to sit there for the Derby game and the wait was a bit ridiculous. Didn't seem to be down to much else other than slow turnstile staff though, to put it frankly.

Didn’t the club make an announcement about changed to access to South Stand recently.?

Yes, the recent planning permission for next summer's works will open up the back of Churchmans and turnstiles will be put in there.
