"Ipswich easily the best team we’ve played this season. Bigger, faster, stronger, fitter and a lot of quality. Thought we did well to keep the score down."

Poll: If KM goes now, will you applaud him when he returns with his new club?

That makes a lovely read. I cannot remember that beings said about us for many, many years, if ever. (Even in SBR’s time) and yes I know this is League one, but …. !

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

If you had been around in Sir Bobby's time here you would have heard those sentiments regularly there was a reason we were voted the best team in Europe by journalists in 1981 its because we were so good,, I have to disagree with you

Similar things said while chatting to Exeter fans while walking away from the ground.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

We weren't even that great today, a good par performance but we were better against Cheltenham imo..

Though clearly Exeter are a better side than Cheltenham.

He he - I was around in Sir Bobbys time (started going in 1972) but I know what you mean. I guess I was particularly thinking of the ‘bigger’ part. We were never bigger and stronger - Gates, Muhren, Thyssen, Burley, Lanbert, Johnson (mk1), Cooper, Harper, Viljoen, Osbourne, Geddis ….. none of those were ever described as bigger or stronger. We were just better, more skilful, well drilled and good at what we did.

So I think it true that it’s been a while since we had a ‘big’ team!

Beats broke three legs with fair tackles, nothing weak about him either.

Think Butcher, Osman, Beattie, Mariner and Wark were all "big' and could all handle themselves in the physical side of the game. Mills and Thijssen were also tough cookies as was Alan Brazil. Gates was not averse to sticking a foot in, Burley too! Perhaps only Muhren was a little delicate but I think he also learned to take care of himself. You don't have to be big, just strong physically and mentally and the team of 81 was rarely, if ever bullied out of a game
