8 in 17 for them. Although he would be cup-tied. Mind you, that might not matter after tomorrow!

I don't think a cup-tieing is likely to upset our season too much

An experienced number 9 with some strength, technical ability and some composure may be useful for us

Who knows, if Whittaker is the target, we perhaps have loftier, more expensive ambitions

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

If we are going to talk about old players we want back, Pablo has a better injury record than Wickham.

What an equaliser for Alvechurch, free kick.

And then they give up a sh1t goal in immediately.

Got to look beyond the stats I'm afraid. In the two tv games Wickham has made Jonathan Douglas versus Newcastle look energetic. In his current guise he is so far away from what McKenna's team is all about. He simply does not have the legs.

So does Johnny Wark. Or were you trying to make a relevant point?

Wickham has played 17 matches this season. He was missing from their League 1 squad on 4 occasions. I think 1 was before he had signed. At 29, he is far from past his best. I am not suggesting we sign him to play 22 lots of 90 minutes without a break. That was when he did break down through injury. There is no reason why he would be any more likely to break down than the rest of our squad.

According to the data I can find, he has played 14 Championship matches and 14 League 1 matches and not been injured at all since 22 January. To argue his injury record against him would be akin to saying Sheffield United were silly to sign Didzy.

Perhaps Forest Green don’t want to get rid of him.

Perhaps Connor Wickham wouldn't want to come back to Ipswich.

FWIW I don’t want him anyway. I don’t think he is what we need.

I would rather have Norwood back!

His contract with them ends in January.

Do you think Norwood would fit in with and offer more to the current squad than Wickham? Seems odd to me.

EDIT: Norwood has also scored 5 fewer goals in 1 more match this season.

I agree he is nowhere near what KMs team is all about. It's a big NO from me.

Hence the smileys!

I wouldn’t want either of them and trust McKenna to sort out which players are available and would be good for the team.

I trust McKenna too and if he doesn't want Wickham, fine. I wouldn't be overly surprised to see him to join.

If he doesn't, I expect him to join Wednesday or a Championship side.

Time will tell.

You have watched McKenna's sides haven't you. Do you think the high press, high-energy work that Ladapo does could be done by Wickham now?

Energy for one. Too lethargic. Like a cart horse. It's all about fitness is KMs team. Push Wickham too hard and he would be another on the long term injury list. His record is appalling.

If he isn't doing that for Forest Green and that is what is keeping him fit, fair enough. I haven't been watching him for them so cannot say.

However, he certainly used to be a physical player who closed players down and had all that Ladapo has but with a better eye for goal.

No way will he get into a Championship side!

As someone else has said he is like a carthorse. He is much too slow and injury prone for anyone to take a long term chance on him.

Time will tell. I am not saying he will be first choice at any side, but he has sufficient quality as his record is showing. He hasn't been too slow nor injury prone for Forest Green this season.

We brought on Burgess against Cheltenham because we had nothing else from the bench that could offer a target upfront when all else had failed....and this is going to become more and more of an issue with sides defending deep..

I don't think it's a bad option, on a free after all...

Norwood is a pretty low bar!

He does play well with his back to goal but we ask a lot more than that of a lone striker . As many have said he just does not have the fitness record or energy for us . So it would be a surprise if we took a chance on him .

Watched the game. He did little apart from the penalty against a much lower league side.

The point I'm trying to make is 'Why Wickham?', the only reason I can see, is that he WAS a town player.

Happens all the time on here, posters wanting ex players back and it drives me nuts.

He's not got the best goalscoring record, His best years have been blighted by knee injuries, he's nothing like a McKenna player.

Sadly, he never developed into the player we all thought he would do. We really don't need to be looking at players like Wickham, we will be looking at Championship players, prepared to drop down, that can help us hit the ground running when we go up.
