Lol really? In the first half we controlled much of the play and clearly targeted long balls in behind your centre halves, and it was working a treat. When we got the ball down we were every bit as good as you. Although I will say that Chaplin is a super player technically and some of the razor sharp balls in between your forward players was very impressive. Draw was absolutely the fair result. Not many sides will come to Portman Road and play as well as we did. There was no long ball 'style'. It was lots of targeted balls in behind your centre-halves. At the end of course it was much more direct. Cracking game and I think a draw was the fair result. [Post edited 14 Jan 2023 17:19]

Plymouth mix it up more than we do, long ball and short ball, formation changes, horses for courses. That is why they are likely to go up automatically an we will not. Fair result overall. Dont think we can really complain. We may have a few players that are better than theirs but they have more nouse.
Plymouth look a year ahead of us. on 17:14 - Jan 14 with 2856 views | MattinLondon | Let’s just wait until the end of the season to see which team is better. 60 more points to play for, Plymouth will drop points as we will do and Wednesday. But I’m still confident that we will go up automatically.

The comfort I'm taking is that while it is another win we've thrown away, it's another draw. A tricky spell where we have dropped points, but we're still not losing games. Oxford away, then Morecambe at home - two good opportunities for us to bounce back, put the illness behind us, bed in the new lads and focus on ourselves rather than the title fight.

Same. This is our blip. We're due a turn of fortunes and a run of form.

Plymouth look a year ahead of us. on 17:26 - Jan 14 with 2611 views | Chrisd | I certainly agree with your subject title, they are a year ahead of us. Both Wednesday and Plymouth have culminated the most points over the last 12 months in L1 than any other side, that includes us and they continue to do so. Our fans might not like it or will admit it, but both those sides look like they have a little bit more about them than what we do. Disappointing to admit, but that’s the reality of the situation.

Plymouth look a year ahead of us. on 17:26 - Jan 14 with 2608 views | Nthsuffolkblue | What does a year ahead of us even mean? Have they been able to carry over the points advantage from last season? Or were their signings this season arranged a year beforehand? We are where we are and they are too because they are very well managed. We have a gap to make up and that is the challenge ahead of us. Now is the time to run towards adversity. I am not sure why some seemed to think this was going to be a smooth upward ride with no bumps along the way.

If that is their measure of controlling a game and compare it to those matches we have controlled, it says something about our ability to control matches. We just need to learn to put more of them to bed.

Why are you saying. “Putting to bed” we didnt win significantly on any statistical metric and by far the biggest miss was Plymouth’s. The problem was not that we didnt put them to bed but that we could not out play them

And stop sides from scoring from their first or only attempt on goal. That doesn’t apply today, but in other games this season it’s happened a few times. We have 65-70% possession a lot of the time, we need to get that balance right in both those final thirds. That will be what ultimately costs us automatic promotion this season.

We were 1-0 up with minutes left. If we see more matches out in those final minutes we have around 13 more points. We are clearly good enough to win this league if we can see out games better than we have done so far.

I would say determines rather than necessarily costs. Can we make the improvement necessary?

At what point does the manager figure out how to do that?

We conceded a half chance and they scored a worldly. Realistically there is not much we could have done about that. Plenty of games this season we have dominated and not put teams away. This game was not the same, they are top for a reason and we were simply not good enough to beat them.

Surely you know the answer to that! The truth is that, given time, if McKenna doesn't improve on the fine margins, another manager will be in place to do so. Whilst you might think it was obvious from the beginning that the smarmy one would fail, I am confident he has all the attributes to get it right. That said, I was also prepared to give Hurst, Lambert and Cook time until it was obvious they were going in the wrong direction.

Oh I agree, i was just reflecting on this particular game. Well over the two games with Plymouth tbh. I think Schumacher has got the better of KM on both occasions.
