McCarthy on his way.... 21:03 - Jan 18 with 4304 viewsBloots

....to Blackpool.

He doesn't like the lights, the pier or rollercoasters.

Mick ma, mick ma, mick ma.

Terry's Friday shooting sessions.

Etc, etc.

2012-13 is 10 years ago.

It's like when we appointed Jewell on the distant memory of success he had had years before

He got Ireland to the Euro's just 2 years ago.

Kept Cardiff up then admittedly had a poor run but it's not as if anyone else has done well there over the last few years.

He also kept us up when we had Lawrence and we were a poor side that year.

At his last job at Cardiff he went in to keep them up and ended up on the fringes of the play offs at one point - it was poor in the following season (and think everyone is suggesting just go in, keep up, then leave) but the job he did to initially bounce them away from relegation was incredible.

He went in on back of 5 defeats then went DDWWWWWWDWD - that was only in 2021

Jewell kept us up after the Keane debacle.

Forging a strong unit amd getting them to battle hard is no less effective now than it was ten years ago, or 20 years before that. It's not about tactical brilliance, so much as man-management and fighting spirit.

Same reason Warnock has had such longevity in the game.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I reckon he is taking up ballroom dancing in preparation for the next series of “Strictly”

I might even watch that!

I don't get where this Mick is a bad manager thought comes from. You might not like his style of play but he's a good manager with a really good Championship CV.

They might still go down but with Mick they have a better chance of staying up.

Mick is the Gordon Brown of ITFC managers. Certainly not the most inspiring and certainly a bit dour at times but streets ahead of what followed him.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

People see what they want to see Joe. His early record at Cardiff was astonishing and as a previous post pointed out, he left Wolves, Sunderland and Town in a higher position than when he joined. His pragmatism irked some and his honesty or bluntness too. His time was up here 18 months before he quit but overall, he did a fine job. Hurst inherited a decent squad and decimated the entire club within months but some want to link relegation to MM. If we're promoted, I'm sure 12th place in the Championship next season would be ok and that would be with significant investment too

He came in at Cardiff after they'd lost 6 in a row and were dropping like a stone and he took them to an 8th place finish. That was his last job, just a few years ago. You clearly have an issue with MM, as do many Town fans, which is clouding your capacity to appraise his managerial ability. I don't recall Mick ever coming into a job and instantly failing in the way you are predicting he will.

Mick almost always gets early results but it never really lasts more than a couple of years and then the fan base just evaporates . Best of luck to him though.
