Now the fog has cleared 09:42 - Jan 22 with 5428 views | Pinewoodblue | It seems to me that either the referee made it up or the FL have verbally told referees, but not clubs, that if a game is abandoned after 75 minutes the result stands. An answer is required and it for Ipswich Town to demand it.

Now the fog has cleared on 10:06 - Jan 23 with 805 views | CityBlue | The rules of the game regarding abandonment are clear - it is the referee that makes the call. There is NO 75 minute rule in English football. The laws of the game state: Duration of Matches. All League Matches shall be of 90 (ninety) minutes’ duration but any League Match which from any cause whatever falls short of 90 (ninety) minutes’ duration may be ordered to count as a completed fixture or be replayed in full or in part on whatever terms and conditions the Board shall in their absolute discretion determine and shall be played in compliance with these Regulations and the Football Association Rules respectively and under the Laws of the Game as approved by the International Football Association Board. The risk here is that the final decision lays with the EFL board and they could state after the abandonment that the result should stand as a 1-1. The decision is not made regarding the outcome of the fixture until a board sits though.

But as the game was never abandoned the issue won’t come up for discussion presumably. What should come up for discussion is the misinformation provided by the ref

Now the fog has cleared on 23:11 - Jan 23 with 654 views | Alberto_the_frog | The rule is basically that whether an abandoned game is replayed or not is at the league's discretion. Nearly always get replayed. The few examples I've found are things like crowd invasions trying to get games abandoned and end of season fixtures that don't affect promotion or relegation- and things like Bradford stadium disaster. Never play just the few minutes remaining- although in Spain this does happen.

Most baffling is that anybody even thinks it is a possibility. The game was played to its conclusion, the conditions were tricky but for both sides. The idea of it being replayed is laughable.

Think everyone agrees the game ought to have been abandoned and replayed. Pretty sure everyone, of sane mind, accepts that the game cannot be replayed but also that it requires investigation and an apology from the EFL on behalf of the referee. The referee exceeded his authority and brought the game into disrepute.
