Charges being dropped isn’t the same as being found not guilty.
But if the charges are dropped a person can’t possibly be found not guilty even if he is innocent.
So it doesn’t change it in my opinion. A person is found guilty or they are not.

TBF, the length of time it was taking to investigate a seemingly straightforward set of events, suggested that it wasn't going to happen. The girlfriend has obviously withdrawn support for the case, something that appears to be quite common in these instances I'm sorry to say. Apparently they're back together? It wasn't so much that Ched Evans cheated on his girlfriend, it was more that he got a taxi to a hotel where he wasn't staying where his mate had told him he'd got a girl, lied to get a room key, went to the room and started having sex with her after asking his mate whether he could join in, having not exchanged a single word with said girl at any point. He managed to get off in the end by throwing a load of money at it and basically smearing the victim and making her life a misery. He's a scumbag as far as I'm concerned. |
I wasn’t aware of that - yeah he’s a scumbag and it sounds like he was very fortunate to be found not guilty. To be clear, I wasn’t trying to defend him in any way.
But that also backs up my point - with Evans the details aren’t common knowledge and there isn’t widely available audio. This, combined with his case never going to trial makes Greenwood a much bigger PR disaster for any club that chooses to employ him. |  |

This is equating law with morality, which in my view is ridiculous. There are people who have been convicted of crimes that were good people, there have been people convicted of nothing that were awful. As a good example already in the thread, I never see people tripping over themselves to defend Jimmy Saville.
Was Alan Turing a bad person because he was convicted of a crime?
People are free to judge others, criminals or not. Going by whatever the law of the land is to decide morality to me is not only wrong but potentially dangerous given the sorts of people who have been in charge of nation-states in living memory. [Post edited 4 Feb 2023 11:45]
