An anti-vax grifter who’s claiming that Nicola Bulley doesn’t actually exist. Lots of “I’m just asking questions”

The state of this.

I didn’t say anything about you. And you responded to me.

Still waiting for you to even start backing up your both-sidesing claim ...

I've been on this dance with him before DK on a couple of subjects, it's honestly not worth your time.

But both sides is his default position, even with regards to the Ukrainian conflict and vaccines.

My comments from the very first post in this thread are critical of the tweeter. I certainly don't think she's serious or making serious points. I even suggested that it may actually be her (and not the selfies of Nicola Bulley) that might not "actually exist".

For some reason you jumped on the "he must be part of the moronic populist right" bandwagon without reading my posts clearly.

My politics before I became quite delusional with UK politics were very clearly left of centre.

And you still haven't answered any of my questions and I'm sure you have no intention of doing so.

By the way, this almost needs its own thread to unpack:

“My politics before I became quite delusional with UK politics were very clearly left of centre.”

I’ll ignore the Freudian part of you becoming “quite delusional”. But you’re saying you’ve gone right as a response to UK politics that itself has been going right for decades with resulting in the current centre-right to far-right Overton window. That’s frankly mind-boggling if so.

Looks like a perfectly normal selfie from a good quality phone with bokeh setting to me.I'm sure Nicola Bulley "actually exists".

What irritates me most about all this is the reaction to the Tweeter's comments - if indeed the tweeter herself actually exists.

Imagine living in a society where people are afraid to ask questions and are punished by the government or mocked by society for doing so. Stalinist Russia, Maoist China, Cold War East Germany, North Korea... Where next? 2020's Britain?

If that sounds alarmist, think about what you're doing when you weaponise the words "Just asking questions".

Fair enough, mock the Tweeter and her silly views if you want to, but if you mock people's right to free speech by weaponising the act you're actively limiting your own rights to something very, very precious.

I love my country, my people and the fact that I'm European and that's because I have been able to (and hopefully always will) express some unpopular views freely.

We should not take our rights for granted, we should defend them with our lives.

“2+2=4, but does it really?”

“Yes, it does, all you are proving you are a freaking idiot for asking.”

That is how the dialogue should go.

Sometimes people are just stupid, ignorant f-wits, that think their craving for publicity somehow gives their idiotic opinions validity.

Free speech also applies to calling stupid people, stupid. We shouldn’t be afraid to do that either.

I initiated the dialogue between us as you acknowledge. My questions are in that post. It's not complicated really.

Wow, your reading comprehension is shocking. What makes you think I've "gone right". I've gone from left to apolitical. What is mind-boggling is your jumping to conclusions in order to fit me into some predetermined stereotype.

Some sort of edit of that would be appreciated for your rant to be intelligible.

I'm struggling to understand the purpose of your post when I've been critical/sceptical of the tweeter from the start. You appear to think I support her views or questions in some way.

The important part of what I've been saying is this, taken from my first post in this thread:

"Fair enough, mock the Tweeter and her silly views if you want to, but if you mock people's right to free speech by weaponising the act you're actively limiting your own rights to something very, very precious."

To put it even more clearly, I'm against the creation and propagation of an internet trope to discourage the asking of questions. The tweeter's stupidity is being used to do just that.

>>"We’re not talking about people asking questions as some democratic, civic journalism process and to defend our rights. These are people happily using their ignorance to spread misinformation and ultimately divisive views."

What misinformation has been spread by the silly tweeter? What's wrong with divisive views? Every democracy on the planet exists because of divisive views. Do you prefer the Chinese political model?

>>"This ignorant delusion is at the heart of the populist right. Where outlets like GB News are somehow beacons of honesty/common sense in a world of fakery. And not some crappy propaganda machine for the populist right churning out fairy tales for the hard of thinking."

So it IS all about politics. We must censor the populist right for spreading misinformation, right?

FYI, I'd say the same thing if you were talking about the "the progressive left".

>>"All of which would be immediately obvious if the people asking questions ever showed they cared about the real world rather than holding onto their narrow views at all costs."

Go on, tell me how people asking questions don't care about the real world, please.

She's claiming that Lancs police took the photo and that they are somehow too good etc. Insinuating the same tired nonsense about crisis actors etc.

You tried hard, but the mask well and truly slipped quickly didn't it? Nothing justifies what she's posted or equates to "just asking questions" in good faith. Let alone the paranoid screeching about totalitarian style governments completely out of context.

This modern phenomena of "but both sides" type whimpering as being intellectually valid and moral is disgusting frankly.

No, you've slowly come around to sympathising with her ilk and criticising normalcy. Not agreeing with her views but her sceptical position are different. It's very clear what you're doing and which bits of the thread you take up and which you ignore.

You can be against the trope all you want because damages your own position, but it's like being against gravity or breathing oxygen.

I encourage people to ask intelligent questions. This woman's questions were far from intelligent because the whole world knows you can obtain a quality selfie image from many popular smartphones.

Stupid people championing any cause are a liability.

Your last sentence is an example of such stupidity.

I think when the tweeter is looking at a plea for help in finding a missing mother of two, and all they seem to be looking to do is cast doubt on whether anyone has even gone missing, then it's fair enough to mock, and form any view you like, on that person and anyone doing anything similar.

It's a story about a missing woman, not some political scandal or the like, yet you seem to suggest the only problem with questioning whether she's even a real person is that the evidence sighted by the tweeter isn't strong enough. Not everything needs to be questioned, and it causes a great deal of pain for a lot of people when stories like this are picked over by people on social media posts like the one referenced in this thread.

I haven't legitimised any form of conspiracy.

I've said from the start the tweeter's comments are stupid.

I haven't questioned Nicola Bulley's existence. In fact I've even suggested that if anyone doesn't actually exist, it's the tweeter herself.

I am not backtracking.

You clearly haven't understood what I have written well enough and have based your comments on what other posters, who have also failed to understand my points, have said.

Unlike the tweeter, I HAVEN'T cast any doubt on the existence of the missing mother or the legitimacy of her photos.

I have said it's okay to mock the tweeter because she is stupid.

I have suggested that if there's anyone in this story that doesn't actually exist it's the stupid tweeter.

It appears that it's useless trying to explain this because people in the main, like yourself, are good and they assume that anyone who's commenting on the story must be doing so for one of two reasons:

1) to say that the tweeter is an insensitive conspiracy theorist or
2) that she is right to express her views in the way that she has.

I'm not saying either of those things.
I am talking about the spreading of a dangerous trope legitimised by the stupid opinions of a silly woman on Twitter.
