Sorry for being so OTT again, fellas…. 19:24 - Apr 10 with 5283 views | ArnieM | I do tend to let my emotions run away with me, I know that. I don’t mean to, or to get so reactive on here. I’m just ( like you all), desperate to get promoted out of this God awful division. So anyway, apologies from me to you…

Sorry for being so OTT again, fellas…. on 17:23 - Apr 11 by J2BLUE | Completely right. It was a disappointing result which people are allowed to be disappointed about. There were a lot of posts at the end of the game which read as if people were trying to prove how supportive they were to the people who had posted pre match about 'flouncing'. I think most people are balanced enough to know it was a disappointing result after an amazing run and react appropriately. The team are doing great and I have every confidence they will finish the job. Anyone pretending not to be mildly disappointed at seeing that goal take us from top to third is not being truthful. Two points at this stage is big. Again though, the players are just next level in this squad and I am sure McKenna will have had a word and moved on. |
Agree, but he'd of had that word in private. And not on a public forum. You wont hear a single negative word about Ipswich Town Football Club, or any of its players, spoken by KM in public.... There's a reason for that. And it's not rocket science..

I don't understand the negative reaction to this post. I see it as defense of our league system. League 1 isn't an awful division, in fact for every club in the divisions below its a step to the promised land or for some smaller clubs, paradise itself. OK, the refereeing is not always the greatest but all clubs in the league are subject to the same refs and let's face it, human error is all part of the package that makes football the most popular game on the planet among humans. While it's frustrating we dropped points on Monday we should also consider the effort of smaller clubs and the commitment of their fans in bloodying the nose of a much bigger club who are flying on the back of 8 straight wins and a long run without conceding. If anyone enjoyed the aspect of this division that allowed us to witness Forest Green beating Wednesday then it's a bit rich to criticise the same division when we're on the wrong end of an unexpected result. When Hereford beat Spurs in a mud bath or York City beat Arsenal (91 places above them) in the 90th minute, both in FA Cup ties, that was part of the glory of football and the stuff fans of small clubs remember for decades. Most of us don't say the FA Cup is a God awful competition, in fact we dislike those clubs who disrespect it by fielding inferior teams. So well done Cheltenham Thank you League 1 for being the stage of one of our best seasons in living memory. Long live long posts COYB [Post edited 12 Apr 2023 8:03]

Sorry for being so OTT again, fellas…. on 15:29 - Apr 11 by BigCommon | Does anyone think KM would string up a player, and create negative hysteria on a public forum? Deluded if they do.... Massive difference between a manager lifting his players, in private, behind a closed door. To fans, highlighting and singling out players faults, in public. If you're going to use the KM comparison. Then, perhaps think about what KM might post up on here.(Or indeed, what he says and how he says it in his public interviews) If you're going to use the " behind closed doors in private, comparison." Then perhaps do the neggy stuff in private, yourself. In the same way KM does. Otherwise, your comparison, makes no sense, Imo. |
To be honest, if the players are trawling TWTD after a poor result then more fool them. You're logic below basically extends to not being allowed to post anything negative ever, which I think is a bit ridiculous to be honest. I do agree with you to a point, but I'd say the equivalent to McK calling out a player in public would be booing and shouting negative comments at a match, not sharing opinions on a fans forum

I think he's suggesting that because McK never publicly calls anyone out, we shouldn't either even on TWTD.

Sorry for being so OTT again, fellas…. on 17:19 - Apr 11 by textbackup | They are deluded if they think KM and his coaching team wont look to improve/help CW after that error. KN said after Derby away that the team were made to watch a 40 min video of mistakes and how to improve on them. |
Who has said, or even thinks, "KM and his coaching team wont look to improve/help CW after that error"? The old classic TWTD tactic of building a straw man to blow over, right there! For a starters, the bed-wetters aren't merely saying KM and his coaching team will look to improve/help CW after that error (they wouldn't be bed-wetters if that's all they said). And secondly, the more calm/sensible ones aren't remotely suggesting that won't happen. So actually, you've built TWO straw men. Desperate stuff.

Again, a straw man. People have been way more than "mildly disappointed"! Everyone was "mildly disappointed", and no-one would have an issue if it was just that. The OP has admitted he was OTT (which is what some of us had an issue with) and fair play to him for holding his hands up.

I think he's talking about the extremes. His first post on the subject was: "Does anyone think KM would string up a player, and create negative hysteria on a public forum?" So yeah, there's nothing wrong with saying Walton made an error and would do it differently if he had the chance again. But that's very different from pissing and moaning, saying we threw the points away/same players making errors... and other such things I've seen.

I don't think I disagree with you in principle, I think there's more a difference in how we're interpreting his point. Context is important here; Blue Common doesn't think that Walton made an error at all, so their view of negative is going to be different to someone who thinks he did make a mistake. To say I've not been immune from bed wetting is an understatement! However yeah - it was a disappointing result in isolation but we've been on a heck of a run and that result doesn't change that. My main gripe with Arnie's post was the "usual suspects" think which I agree didn't take into account how brilliantly we (and they) have been doing. [Post edited 12 Apr 2023 10:01]

Agree with most of that, although haven't seen Blue Common say he doesn't think that Walton made an error at all, so only they can answer that. I think he made an error, but it was compounded by the wind. That's it really, I don't think you need to say much more than that.

Fair enough, I think we're pretty much on the same page. BigCommons post was "Don't even think he made a mistake. He's collected dozens of those lately...Looked to me like a gust of wind caught the ball up at the last second...Completely not his fault. Just a freak occurrence" So I've interpreted his view of 'negative' including those saying he made a mistake. Which I think is fair, and the"FFS Walton's" are the just the online equivalent of a collective groan at a game. All of the stuff about the team not being as good or Walton being a weak link - yeah that's mad and agree with you completely
