I fully appreciate that it's easier when we are looking at promotion.
But put that to one side, step back and take in where we are as a Club. What is happening behind the scenes and how the club now 'feels'.
Then, just look at the 'football' we are seeing on the pitch.
We have to pinch ourselves I think.

Where the club is compared with where it was two years ago is amazing. I can’t believe the progress that’s been made.
And then there’s the team. Ok, the job is not done, but this season has been extraordinary culminating in the last 12 games. It’s not just the results, it’s the way they’ve done it.
The club is blossoming into something special again. If we can get up, I really think we will be in with a shout next season with the minimum of changes. And that’s coming from a miserable old pessimist like me.

We were 11th last year because of the cookie monster and his monster mash.
How many points last season under (super) Kieran McKenna? Where were we in the form table? I don't know and can't be bothered to look, but what I do recall is that the invigorating effect of his arrival is immense.
A personal belief of mine, about any successful organisation, is that success depends on the chemistry of all those involved.
Take the Robson era; The Cobbolds specifically Mr. John, Robson, Lea, Woods, Ron Gray and the players, both home grown and bought in.
And now we have the overall ownership, the stewards they've put in place down to Ashton, KMcK's team and the players from Woolfy to Hirst (picked as he's "only" a loanee) = chemstry.

Some said relegation was disaster for this football club. I said at the time that was ridiculous and so it has proved. We're coming back way stronger than we were plodding along in 15th of the Championship, in all aspects of the club.
It doesn't even matter about how long we've taken to get back, as some have been screaming about. I always said Rome wasn't built in a day and patience was required. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to bounce back and it's far better to build solid foundations and be ready, rather than just desperately get up.
Once we get back up I expect us to be stronger than the teams we go up with, whatever position we all ultimately finish in. And I expect us to be stronger than a lot already in the Champ. Including Nodge. |  |

Completely agree Homer, it will be great taking this style of football back into the Championship. The club are slowly climbing back to their feet on and off the pitch after a dull period in our history and it is exciting to see. It shows how ME really was hampering the club with his ownership, lack of ambition and foresight. I know we have plenty of MM admirers on this forum, and he did a good job with his hands tied, but even if we had MM at the helm now as our manager, he wouldn't have his team playing this brand of football even with more money to spend on better players. |  |

Well no, it's proven not to have been a disaster. I'd dispute we got lucky too - Evans was always going to sell eventually, and the new owners were always going to be better than him! Our history and size made us attractive and I felt it was only a matter of time until we got a decent owner and turned the club around. The fact that Gamechanger have been so good so far is a bonus.

If there’s one thing the Wrexham documentary makes really obvious is that if you engage with the fans, don’t treat them like idiots or cash cows, and build strong connections into the community - then there is enough latent fandom and pride in most communities to really embrace what new owners are trying to do - regardless of who those owners are.
Our journey is almost identical to Wrexham’s; just at a slightly different level of the pyramid and without the celebrity.
Maybe it’s a coincidence that the owners are also North American - but the one thing you can’t dispute is that college sports in the US are like nothing else in the world when it comes to galvanising a local community - it seems like our owners (and the Wrexham celebs) really understand that - in fact in just the first five minutes of episode 1 Rob Mc what’s his name sums it up pretty well.
I’d grown bored of watching Ipswich (I still did it, staying up until past midnight down under to watch streams of us huff and puff our way out of the Championship and then achieve mid table mediocrity in League 1). It felt like a duty rather than getting any enjoyment from it. But yesterday the excitement was building all day and then I couldn’t sleep until 3/4am because I was buzzing after the game had finished. And I’ll set the alarm for 3am on Tuesday because I have to watch the game. I’ve fallen back in love with Town - and it feels bloody fantastic. | | | |

That’s very true - easy to forget how much Sheeran’s sponsorship has raised the club’s profile across the world. Maybe the lack of a documentary is the reason why our profile isn’t as high in the UK.
My wife said to me first thing - “how did Ipswich do and did you see Wrexham were promoted?”
Seems she was more interested in the Wrexham result than that of the team her husband of 24 years supports!!!
To be fair, she’s a bit of an Ipswich fan; went to Wembley in 2000, was a season ticker holder for a few years - but since we moved down under she’s stopped following us. | | | |
