I can't speak for Ipswich, but can offer some general advice.
Definitely opt for a local firm with experienced staff, particularly in the current market. Those who haven't experienced poor markets such as this before, simply won't have the skills to help you maximise the price you get for your property.
The last ten years have just been a case of 'stick it on the market, and watch the bids come in'. In the current climate you're back to the position where a sales negotiator really does have to earn their salary by negotiating. |  |

Additionally, it may well be worth using Rightmove to assess agents yourself. Keep an eye on who's bringing what to market, who's having to make reductions in price to shift stock, and who seems to be agreeing sales. Now more than ever you don't want to run the risk of being seduced by an agent who promises a high price, but locks you into a sole agency deal with a view to reducing the price after a couple of weeks. I'd recommend Fenn Wright. Sold ours through them and they were great, not pushy at all, sold our place for above the asking price, managed the chain well etc. |  |

These guys were absolutely brilliant for us. We had our house on with someone else (who will remain nameless) and they were just relying on rightmove clicks, and constantly telling us we had over valued, even if ALL other agents had the same valuation.
After a couple of weeks with not even an enquiry, we moved on to Joseph Property. They took some new photos (including virtual tour) which were so much better, called through their database and within 4 days we had sold for the full asking price.
