By way of comparison as they’re a year further on from escaping L1, I had a look at the Sunderland forum. Of three pages of comments, two people thought it was an alright signing, the rest meh.

Barnes will soon be 34 & most attacking players lose their edge once they are over 30 & often become more injury prone. I'm surprised how many games Barnes played for Burnley this season so he clearly retains ability. but he last scored double digit goals 4 seasons ago. A short term signing at best, who will probably be on quite high wages. |  |
