Good that the party have suspended him so quickly after the allegations broke yesterday. Not good that his alleged repeated behaviour was an “open secret”, nor that formal complaints weren’t made because the women had no faith in the party leadership taking them seriously. It’s not clear which leadership period they’re talking about.
Westminster’s in a right mess Innit? I don’t know a huge amount about Davies other than people here were annoyed he was parachuted in. Looks odd though 🤣 |  |

It's very much a societal problem isn't it? Patriarchy, abuse of power, however you explain it or in some quarters justify it; there does seem to be a reckoning for many people.
Schofield might be becoming a circus and a way to make money for the media now, but cases like this or Nick Cohen being brought up again this week do show important the narrative becomes. Rather than the victims and the misdeeds as it were. |  |

Parachuting ‘respected’ individuals into safe seats is something that isn’t going to go away, happens on both sides.
Doesn’t matter which party you support jobs for mates is far too common. Will be even worse if we move away from first past the post and have lists.
By all accounts this guy was working the system, not just for his own satisfaction but financially. How can you justify an MP, while representing a Croydon constituency , claiming expenses for a second home in Westminster? |  |

The role of the whips should not be overlooked in cases such as this.
It is said in the report that the whips have been aware of allegations against the MP "for a number of years". Some might say that the lack of a formal complaint (until now) has allowed them to make maximum capital from the information they have without feeling the need, perhaps, to do anything about it.
Such a thought certainly chimes in with how the inner workings of party politics is viewed. |  |

Yeah, he’s not exactly covered himself in glory in other ways has he. He does seem to be in it for what he can get. Let’s see what comes of the investigation, but if it’s damning I hope he has the whip removed and then the people of Swansea vote him out (at the least - maybe it’ll encourage people to come forward and make claims).
The case that was covered up last year came back to life again recently- I won’t say the name on here who’s linked as to not get us into any trouble, but it’s not a very well kept secret. Guys my age and older preying on young interns who need to get on makes me sick. | |
