So Apple Vision Pro… will we look back on it like the iPhone.. 21:47 - Jun 5 with 1638 views | unstableblue | … and realised it completely changed society? Or will it be flash in the pan I think the fact it can basically replace a multi-screen set-up, keyboard, mouse… etc, may be the key, and/or a large hole entertain screen I don’t like thinking it’s going to take off… the real world is great to look at… without the apples and window tiles that we are already obsessing on in the black mirrors in our palms [Post edited 5 Jun 2023 21:48]

Like most of these things I see little reason why I would want one, but wouldn't dismiss the likelihood that further down the line when Samsung or similar makes it better and cheaper I'll get tempted in.

I think this AR headset is somewhat different to the meta pitch and other VR experience pitches. Can’t stand the Metaverse bollox. It’s about giving you a user interface for computer apps on a new scale and approach. Essentially giving you a room /view full of access to information, and with Apple typically providing a very good and intuitive interface who knows it might have limited takeover. If the form factor was smaller and without the battery pack, you could argue it’s giving you a couple of monitors, a mouse and keyboard in a pair of glasses. Let’s see where it goes. I’d not be keen for years… unless the experience and ease of interaction is remarkable, which I expect it won’t be….. Does Town TV, an interactive TWTD chat room, Sky news rolling scores all on giant screens in your living room sound compelling?!

With no awareness of movement to your side, and lots of distractions on the screen, it makes it incredibly easy for somebody to punch you in the head and steal it.

They perfected the smartphone with the first iPhone. I've never owned an Apple product, but the iPhone has truly changed how the World communicates and receives information. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Now AI, that's going to have the same effect that the internet had, slow for people to understand its power, but ultimately once you can monetise its capability and make it part of everyday life it will be as embedded connectivity is now.
