Look what I found on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1072756673/vintage-leather-classic-traditional?r I used to have one of these jobbies with the whoppee cushion( bladder) inside that only my Grandad could inflate and tie into the lace to keep it so.... was only playable in bone dry conditions as then moment it got moist it was like trying to play with a medicine ball!

After you put dubbin on the ball you then dubbinned your boots and shined the toe caps.

Is it just me that remembers the Mitre Delta on 16:30 - Jun 23 by monkeymagic | My top 3 : Adidas Telstar, 1974 Adidas Tango, 1982 Mitre Pro League, 1982 |
The Telstar of 1970, as tipped over by Banks, as slammed into those beautiful nets in the Final by Brazilians Kew me away as a kid. As I look out of our window I can see my Jack Russell’s game ball, one of those light weight beach types , in the Telstar design. The daughters Staffy ball is the heavier Tango. The legends live on! The 66’ orange ball was a beaut to. See also the 73’ final, which I reckon was the last hurrah of a tan leather ball in a daylight game.

I had a white leather ball for Christmas in the 1970s. Perfect it was. No logos, patterns, splodges, names or any of that. Sadly, the coating scuffed and scraped off in no time and it soon turned from a good solid thunking head splitter to a medicine ball when it got wet. Didn’t stop us playing with it when ever the opportunity allowed until it was completely wrecked. Ahh the good ole days though as was pointed out, not so good if you got hit in the face with it.
