Man’s/Woman’s Best Friend. 19:13 - Jun 27 with 1596 viewsStochesStotasBlewe

I never wanted a dog. The rest of the family did though so nearly 12 years ago we got a golden retriever puppy.
She adopted me though and before I knew it we were attached at the hip.

She was my constant companion and came to work with me every day, accompanied me on my fishing trips and was my best buddy.
This weekend, her health deteriorated and with great sadness this afternoon I made the decision to have her put to sleep.
I was there with her in my garden all day and with her at the end and am now coming to terms with not having her around the place.
I’m very sad, but have some wonderful memories to carry around.
Sorry for the thread but just wanted to get this off my chest.

COYB.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Like you, I never wanted a dog but ended up with one and I wouldn’t be without him.

Sorry for your loss. It must be incredibly hard.

Oh lordy I know exactly how you feel and am typing with tears flowing very freely

Saying goodbye to Carrie a couple of years ago was the hardest thing Ive ever done but she had been poorly (liver cancer) and it was the right thing.

Enjoy and cherish the memories but it may not help to know that you'll always have a paw shaped hole in your heart that just wont heal over.

Sent with much love make

Don't apologise. Dogs are a part of the family and losing them is horrible. I learnt that from a young age when our family dog passed away, she used to sleep on the end of my bed and we did everything together. I was only 8 and it was a tough lesson.

I've had dogs in adulthood too and the bond is always very strong.

Sorry for your loss. Cherish those fond memories you have.

So very sorry to read this Lancelot. Great that you were able to take her to work with you and you did well to know when the time had come.
I'm out walking Spot now who is a 17 Yr old Patterdale getting slower every day. Miss Slave and I have been praying that he would stay with us through Junior's A levels as they are thick as thieves. Now that he has done that the next goal is graduation! Not having him and Junior around soon will be horrid when the time comes.
Sending some positive vibes your way, kisses Carol xox

So sorry mate.
It's such a hard thing to do.
We had to say goodbye to our black lab, Dave, a couple of years ago. Poor fella had a brain tumour. I miss him terribly.

Whatever anyone may say, dogs are such a huge part of any family. It’s the unconditional love that makes it so difficult.

Our Japanese Spitz became very poorly very quickly last year and we had to say goodbye to him and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do - it still makes me upset now thinking about him.

The pain at losing them is unfortunately the price we have to pay for all the joy that they bring into our lives for the time they’re with us I guess - but they’re never forgotten.

So sorry for your loss

Massive sympathies. Lost my old boy (an Italian Spinone) last November, sudden & unexpected, a big shock & huge loss, he'd been my constant companion for 13.5 years.

They'll always be in our hearts 🐾

Always a difficult decision as you cannot ask the dog how they feel and you keep thinking 'maybe if I leave it for a short period they will get better'. The most important thing is you made the correct choice.

Remember the fun times.
