Tyreece Simpson on 15:05 - Jul 25 by SamWhiteUK | I dunno, as a naturally laid back lazy white person who struggles with motivation a lot of the time, I never would have read anything into that comment and I'd wager that most people wouldn't, but maybe I'm wrong. |
Really? Fair enough, but pretty sure plenty would see it same as me. Context is important too... and I didn't see any evidence that Harper was lazy. So why call him lazy? I'm not suggesting the comments aimed at Simpson and Chirewa on this thread were racist, just backing up others who have said these comments do still exist on here and elsewhere. As I say though, Chickers has form for being well hyperbolic and lacking nuance :)

Tyreece Simpson on 15:11 - Jul 25 by Steve_M | Chickers 2.0 does try a bit too hard on the trolling but that doesn't mean the underlying point is always wrong. Less tedious than dear old Blubbers though. That comment is definitely a classic of the genre we were discussing. |
Oh I don't know, Fishers was generally pretty spot on about football related matters ;)

I didn’t read anything into it either. I too was regarded as laid back in the workplace and certainly considered lazy at school (rightly). I don’t know who made that comment about Harper, but I think it unfair to essentially accuse them of racism without asking them about it. That the Administrators have commented on the accusations being flung about here tells me enough is enough with this thread.

Undoubtedly, he just couldn't resist repeating them ad nauseum.

It was a news comment from someone who never posts on the forum so difficult to engage tbh. Happy to be wrong on that one but that's how I saw it. It's a pretty standard racist trope. Is it relatively a big deal? Possibly not but that's another argument, and I'm probs not best placed to decide, being a middle aged Suffolk honky (Fungers stole my line) :) x

You would now be establishing yourself in a team on the up, with the finest young coach outside of the Premier league and potentially knocking on its door in the next 2-3 seasons. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Possibly. If he was still here he could well be looking at being loaned out to league one which is the exact position he finds himself in. None of us know the contract he was offered here. As it stands he has the security of being under contract for three more years. It seems very few are capable of looking at this with balance.

Tyreece Simpson on 13:18 - Jul 25 by Big_Jase | That’s a massive exaggeration and you know it. He wanted parity in wages with an L1 squad player, a couple of grand a week. |
When he wasn’t a league 1 squad player though…., I think the issue was if he’d stayed at Town he could have got a pay rise, stayed at Swindon , and if he kept banging in the goals would probably have got a better offer. Instead he took the money and his career has suffered.

Tyreece Simpson on 16:57 - Jul 25 with 897 views | Jimmy86 | So, I posted on here at the time, couple of months back, whilst the season was still in full flow, I saw Tyreece in Stowmarket pure gym, whilst I was puffing away on the exercise bike.. reason I knew it was Tyreece is because he was wearing a black out Swindon shirt from his productive loan spell there, with his name and number on the back... He could have worn any gym kit he wanted to, gym shark, gym king, Adidas, Nike, under armour or anything.. fact he was wearing a named shirt I found a little funny... If he's as good as he thinks he is then he wouldn't need to wear it, as people would know him anyway.. At the time of the contract dispute when he wanted parity with other strikers at the club, he hadn't earned that, off the back of a decent half season loan spell...

Not all of us make everything about race or try to read into things beyond what's written. Seems a stressful way to live.
